Protective clothing/equipment
When working on the installations, never wear loose clothing and always tie back long hair.
Never wear jewellery, metal watch straps or metal fittings and rivets on items of clothing as
there is a risk of injury and short circuits.
Always wear suitable eye protection.
Always wear a protective helmet where there is a risk of injury from falling objects.
Careful approach
Mirror surfaces and coatings are conductive. Never touch live parts with a mirror. This may
cause a short circuit or even result in personal injury.
Always disconnect the power supply when working in the immediate vicinity of a power supply
unit or direct current converter, unless the operating instructions stipulate that work may be
carried out without switching off the power.
Never attempt to lift heavy objects unaided.
Never look directly at a laser beam.

Voltage checks/measurements
Check the nominal voltage set for the installation (operating instructions and type plate).
Proceed with extreme caution if carrying out measurements on live components and
maintenance work on plug-in cards, PC boards and covers when the power supply is switched
on.
Main power supply switch
Locate the main switch for the system's power supply and follow the appropriate instructions.
Damage
Only use tools and equipment which are in perfect condition. Do not put damaged equipment into
service.
Protecting electrostatically sensitive devices (ESD)
To protect electrostatically sensitive devices (ESD):
Wear a wristband before carrying out any work on PC boards and modules.
Only transport PC boards in suitable protective packaging.
Always place PC boards on an earthed conductive base in order to work on them.
Only use earthed soldering irons.
