Caution
System voltage activation/deactivation is basically performed by inserting or
removing the power plug. Battery mode must be deactivated before using a
USVF.
3.2.14 USVI
Introduction
A USVI unit for Hicom 150 E OfficePro generally comprises the following components (Figure
3-11):
USVI cabinet (space for 2 battery managers and 2 battery sets)
Battery manager board (charging and control electronics)
Battery set board (comprising 4 maintenance-free 12 V lead storage batteries).
Two fully compatible battery managers from two different manufacturers can be used. The two types
of battery can be used simultaneously in a USVI cabinet.
The battery manager is connected to the PSUI by means of a connection cable. A separate battery
manager with a battery set is required for each PSUI. A port for connecting an external charging
rectifier or a 48 V DC network system is provided on the back of the battery manager.
See Section 6.1.1 for information on how to operate the USVI in connection with an external 48 V DC
network system and how to use an uninterruptible power supply unit provided by the customer.
