WhentheVFD/motorarerunning,highlevelsofelectricalnoiseareproducedonthewiringbetween

basicallyhighfrequency/highvoltageDCpulses.Theseoutputwiresmustbeenclosedinsometypeof
shielding(metallicconduitormetalshielded cable)tomitigateradiatedelectricalnoise.
WirelengthbetweentheVFDandthemotorshouldbekepttoless than 150
feetifpossibleduetothe
reflectedwave/standingwavephenomenonandvoltageovershootphenomenon.Bothofthese
phenomenaarerathercomplex,andareafunctionofthewirelengthfromtheVFDtothemotor.The
reflectedwave/standingwavephenomenonandvoltageovershootphenom
enoncandamagenon
inverterdutymotorwindingsovertimeduetothehighpeakvoltagesthatthesephenomenacan
produce.
