The Modbus specification requires that
the individual characters of a serial
Modbus RTU telegram have to be
transmitted successively with a
maximum character gap of 1.5
character times (or max. 750 µs for
Baud rates >19 200 bit/s). Longer silent
intervals between the characters are
interpreted as telegram end.
A longer gap between the characters
can be tolerated with this parameter.

times then.
