Status Byte
In PROFIBUS PA there are two possible types of status byte:
• status byte: originally defined in Profile Standard V3.0
• condensed status: an alternative status byte defined in Profile Standard V3.01
You can choose which type of status byte will be returned, by enabling or disabling
Condensed Status Mode (3.6.1.). The default setting is Condensed Status disabled: Status
Byte will be returned, and the following codes will be used.
Status Codes for Good Quality
Values in hex notation Description
0x80 Data is GOOD.
0x84
A parameter in the function block has been changed: status active
for 10 s
0x89 Active low warning.
0x8A Active high warning.
0x8D Active low alarm.
0x8E Active high alarm.
Status Codes for Uncertain Quality
Values in hex notation Description
0x4B Value is a substituted value (normally used in Failsafe).
0x4C/0x4F Initial value.
0x47 Last usable value.
Status Codes for Bad Quality
Values in hex notation Description
0x10
The LOE timer has expired: this could be caused by LOE or by a sen-
sor malfunction: value is BAD.
0x01
There is an error in the configuration of the function blocks in PROFI-
BUS PA

This could happen when a firmware download has been done, but a system reset has not
been done. This could also happen if the function blocks are not configured properly using
the handheld programmer, PDM or acyclic services.
0X1F
The function block, or the transducer block, has been placed out of
service.
