security and prevention of external access with bad intent. No
additional protection (firewall) is included.

Medical network solutions are vulnerable to attacks by mali-
cious software (or malware). Thus vendors and users have to
cooperate to meet the challenge of safeguarding the security
and privacy of data in health care.

Please take the following precautions.

✧ Use technical network defenses.
✧ Prepare policies, procedures, and user training.
✧ Restrict physical access whenever possible.
✧ Reduce logical interconnections to the minimum.
✧ Establish secure remote access for servicing of all network
devices.
