Risks of sitting in incorrect
position
If you are not wearing your seat belt,
or are wearing it improperly, this
increases the risk of serious or lethal
injury.
Seat belts only guarantee optimum
protection when worn properly.
Sitting in an incorrect position
considerably reduces the
protective function of the seat belt.
Consequently, you can suer serious
or even lethal injury. The risk of
serious or lethal injury especially
increases if the occupants of the
vehicle knock into each other because
they are not seated correctly.
As driver, you are responsible for
every individual, especially children,
that you transport in your vehicle.
As follows is an illustrative list of
incorrect positions that could prove
dangerous to vehicle occupants.
When the vehicle is in movement:
• Never stand inside the vehicle.
• Never stand on the seats.
• Never kneel on the seats.
• Never lean on the instrument
dashboard.
• Never sit just on the front of the
seat.
• Never sit to the side.
• Never lean outside the window.
• Never put your feet outside the
window.
• Never put your feet on the
instrument dashboard.
• Never put your feet on the seat
padding or on the back of the seat.
• Never travel in the footrest area.
• Never sit on top of the armrest.
• Never travel without being seated in
the seat with your seat belt on.
• Never stay in the boot.
WARNING
Sitting in an incorrect position in the
vehicle can increase the risk of serious
or lethal injury in the event of accident,
abrupt movement, or braking.
• All occupants must always be correctly
seated while driving and be wearing their
seat belt correctly.
• Vehicle occupants who are not seated
correctly or are not wearing their seat belt
run the risk of very serious or lethal injury.
