The Proflame Receiver (S) is an integral component of the Proflame GTMFS System, designed for use with a Proflame Transmitter and a Proflame Fan Control Module (FCM). This device facilitates the remote control of hearth appliance functions, offering comprehensive management of primary burner operation, flame levels, and thermostatic control.
Function Description:
The Proflame Receiver acts as the central control unit, receiving commands via radio frequency from the Proflame Transmitter. It then translates these commands to operate various aspects of a hearth appliance. Key functionalities include:
- Primary Burner Control: The receiver manages the on/off operation of the primary burner, allowing users to ignite or extinguish the flame remotely.
- Flame Level Adjustment: It provides control over the flame levels, enabling users to adjust the intensity of the fire to their preference.
- Thermostatic Control: The system offers both on/off and "Smart" thermostatic control of the hearth appliance, maintaining a desired room temperature.
- Secondary Burner Control: When used with a Split Flow burner controller, the receiver can open or close the secondary burner via the remote transmitter.
- Power Outlet Control: The system includes a remotely actuated 120V/60Hz power outlet, which can be controlled by the transmitter.
- Fan Speed Control: It allows for the adjustment of fan speed through six distinct levels, enhancing heat distribution.
- Constantly Powered Outlet: A constantly powered 120V/60Hz power outlet is also available.
The receiver connects directly to the gas valve, stepper motor, Split Flow burner controller, and the Fan Control Module via a wiring harness. It is powered by four 1.5V AA batteries.
Usage Features:
The Proflame Receiver features a three-position slider switch on its body, offering different operational modes:
- ON (Manual Override): This position allows for manual control of the appliance, bypassing remote commands.
- REMOTE (Remote Control): In this position, the receiver accepts and executes commands from the Proflame Transmitter.
- OFF: This position deactivates the receiver and the appliance.
System Initialization:
To initialize the system for the first time:
- Install Receiver Batteries: Insert four 1.5V AA batteries into the receiver's battery bay, observing the correct polarity.
- Set Slider Switch: Place the three-position slider switch on the receiver in the "Remote" position.
- Initiate Synchronization: Using a paper clip or similar object, insert it into the hole marked "PRG" on the receiver's front cover. The receiver will emit three "beeps," indicating it is ready to synchronize with a transmitter.
- Install Transmitter Batteries: Insert three AAA type batteries into the transmitter's battery bay.
- Synchronize Transmitter: With the transmitter batteries installed, press the "On" button on the transmitter. The receiver will then emit four "beeps," confirming that the transmitter's command has been accepted and the system is synchronized to that specific transmitter's code.
Maintenance Features:
- Low Battery Power Detection: The receiver monitors its battery levels. When the receiver batteries are low, it will not emit a "beep" when it receives an On/Off command from the transmitter. This serves as an alert for a low battery condition. Upon replacing the batteries, the "beep" will resume when the ON/OFF key is pressed. If the receiver is connected to the FCM, two "beeps" will be emitted when the batteries are low. The lifespan of the receiver batteries varies depending on factors such as battery quality, the number of appliance ignitions, and changes to the room thermostat set point.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Supply Voltage: 6.0 V (four 1.5 V AA batteries)
- Ambient Temperature Ratings: 0 - 60 °C (32 - 140 °F)
- Radio Frequency: 315 MHz
Safety Warnings:
- Fire Hazard: The receiver controls the ignition of the appliance, which can turn on suddenly. Users should keep away from the appliance burner when operating the remote system or activating manual bypass.
- Property Damage Hazard: Excessive heat can cause property damage. The appliance can remain lit for extended periods. It is crucial to turn off the appliance if it will not be attended for any length of time.
- Child Safety: Always place the transmitter where children cannot reach it.
