Why does my SkeeterVac SV5100 insect trap turn off suddenly?
    • A
      Amy ScottAug 5, 2025
Your SkeeterVac insect trap might be turning off suddenly because it is out of gas. In this case, exchange, refill, or replace the LP gas tank. Another reason could be that the overheat protection switch (heat sensor) has been activated. To resolve this, turn off and disconnect the LP gas tank, let the engine cool for 30-45 minutes, then reconnect the LP gas tank and attempt to light the insect trap. After 5 minutes, check that the LED lights and fan are working properly.

What to do if the engine is not functioning properly in my SkeeterVac Lawn and Garden Equipment?
    • J
      Jeanette PerryAug 16, 2025
If the engine on your SkeeterVac is not functioning properly, the LP gas tank may be low or empty; exchange, refill, or replace the LP gas tank. Check for LP gas leaks by following the 'Checking for Leaks' instructions. Also, the ventilation might be blocked. Turn off and disconnect the LP gas tank, check the ventilation openings and air-inlet to ensure they are clear of debris, and clean the unit. If the fan isn't working, verify the insect trap has been running for at least 10 minutes. Use a pencil and slowly turn the fan blades. If the fan blades continue to turn on their own, allow the unit to continue to run. If fan blades stop, turn off the LP gas tank and clean the insect trap.

First, ensure the regulator is securely attached to the LP gas tank and the tank valve is open. If it still doesn't start, the LP gas tank may be low or empty and needs to be exchanged, refilled, or replaced. Check for any LP gas leaks, following the 'Checking for Leaks' section after closing the LP gas tank valve and waiting 5 minutes. If the igniter isn't working, check/replace the “AA” battery. If there is too much air in the hose line, connect the LP gas tank, slowly open the valve, and hold the control valve button for up to 3 minutes, attempting to light the trap every 30 seconds. Also, check if the filter is blocked. Finally, the regulator might need to be reset: turn off and disconnect the LP gas tank, wait 30 seconds, reconnect, and slowly open the valve. If the unit is too damp o...
