Tailgate
Removing tailgate
- Remove trim panel of tailgate
⇒ page 70-11.
- Separate electrical plug connections and pull
cable out of tailgate.
- Remove pressurized gas struts
⇒ page 55-3.
K - Unscrew the bolts -1- attaching the hinges
-2- and take off tailgate.
Tightening torque: 15 Nm
Notes:
♦
Use an Allen key the shorter leg of which
has been shortened to about 10 mm and
mask over surrounding painted area with
adhesive tape in order to avoid damaging
the paintwork.
♦
A second mechanic is required for removing
and installing the tailgate.
Removing pressurized gas strut
- Open tailgate and support.
K - Use a screwdriver to raise locking element
-2- and pull gas strut off the angle bracket
with ball stud -1-.
Note:
If the gas strut is to be re-used, do not remove
locking element -2- fully from the ball socket oth-
erwise the locking element will be damaged.
