5.6-2 Ring Gear Bolt Torque Sequence
Maintaining proper torque is essential to safe MEWP
operation. Improper bolt torque could result in an
unsafe operating condition and component damage.
1. Park the MEWP on a firm level surface in the
stowed position.
2. Disconnect one of the main power connectors.
3. Apply Loctite 242 blue to the inner (upper) gear
mounting bolts, and hand tighten them.
4. Set a torque wrench to 68 Nm (50 ft-lb) and
tighten the inner gear mounting bolts in a criss-
cross pattern sequence.
5. Repeat with the torque wrench set to 115 Nm
(85 ft-lb).
6. Repeat with the torque wrench set to 230 Nm
(170 ft-lb).
7. Repeat the previous steps with the outer (lower)
gear mounting bolts.

5.6-3 Check Torque Hub Oil Level
1. Drive the MEWP to rotate the hub until the plug
is located at the 3 o’clock or 9 o’clock position.
2. Remove the plug and check the oil level. The oil
level should be even with the bottom of the plug
hole. Add oil if needed. For oil specifications,
refer to 2.9 Hydraulic Specifications.
