Overview

The SKYRC CG Gauge is a sophisticated device designed to measure the center of gravity (CG) and weight of aircraft models, particularly relevant for RC enthusiasts and model builders. This manual, version 1.0 (SK-500039), provides comprehensive instructions for its setup, operation, and maintenance.

Function Description

The primary function of the SKYRC CG Gauge is to accurately determine the center of gravity and total weight of an aircraft model. This is crucial for flight stability and performance. The device utilizes three weighing modules, which are wirelessly controlled through Bluetooth. It measures the model airplane's weight and center of gravity with a maximum load of 20kg. The collected data is then processed and displayed via a dedicated RC Gears app, allowing for real-time measurement data.

The system calculates the distance from the front wheel to the rear wheel, the center of gravity to the rear wheel, and the counterweight to the rear wheel. It also provides a "Correction Point" feature, which helps in adjusting the model's balance. The app interface allows users to input various parameters, including wheelbase and distances, to refine the CG calculation.

Usage Features

1. Unboxing and Initial Setup: The package includes three weighing modules. Users are instructed to download the RC Gears app from App Store or Google Play.

2. Connecting:

  • Bluetooth Connection: Users need to enable Bluetooth on their smartphone and open the RC Gears app. The app will automatically search for and connect to the three weighing modules. The modules have LED indicators for status (Blue for connected, Red for low voltage, Green for charging).
  • Module Placement: The three modules should be placed under the aircraft's wheels. One module goes under the front wheel, and two modules go under the rear wheels. It's important to ensure the modules are placed securely and level.

3. Weighing:

  • Module Recognition: The app displays three modules (Module 1, Module 2, Module 3) and their respective weights.
  • Zeroing: Before placing the model airplane on the weighing modules, users must click "ZERO" in the app to tare the scales, ensuring accurate measurements.
  • Placement: Place the model airplane on the weighing modules, making sure its wheels are located in the middle of each module.
  • Real-time Data: The app displays the total weight and individual weights for each module.

4. Center of Gravity Adjustment:

  • Connecting the Modules: Ensure the modules are connected and tared.
  • Placement: Place the model airplane on the weighing modules, making sure its wheels are located in the middle of each module.
  • Switching to Interface: Switch to the "Center of Gravity" interface in the app.
  • Measurement: The app will display the wheelbase, distance from the front wheel to the main wheel centerline, and the distance from the main to the weight placement point. It also calculates the total weight and the CG value.
  • Adjustment Guidance: The manual provides visual aids for adjusting the CG. If the CG is too far forward, users are advised to "Lose weight xx g" at the counterweight position. If the CG is too far backward, users should "add xx g" at the counterweight position. This iterative process helps achieve the desired CG.

5. LED Indicator:

  • Constant Blue: App is connected and working.
  • Flashing Blue: Standby, waiting to be connected.
  • Flashing Red: Low voltage.
  • Charging: Charging in progress.

Maintenance Features

1. Warranty and Service:

  • Warranty Period: The product is guaranteed to be free of manufacturing and assembly defects for a period of one year from the date of purchase. The warranty only applies to material or operational defects, which are present at the time of purchase.
  • Exclusions: The warranty does not cover damage due to wear and tear, modifications, misuse, improper installation, or any damage caused by external factors.
  • Proof of Purchase: During the warranty period, users must provide proof of purchase.
  • Repair/Replacement: SKYRC will repair or replace defective products free of charge.
  • Service Contact: For service inquiries overseas, users should contact their dealer in the first instance. For complex issues, users can send an email to info@skyrc.com.

2. General Care:

  • Cleaning: Keep the device clean and free from dust and debris.
  • Storage: Store the device within the specified temperature and humidity ranges to prevent damage.
