This document describes the Smart Cat Litter Box (Model: MSP-03), a device designed to automate cat litter cleaning and odor removal, aiming to provide a cleaner living environment for pet owners.
Function Description
The Smart Cat Litter Box is an automated system for managing cat waste. Its primary function is to detect when a cat has used the litter box and then initiate a cleaning cycle to remove clumped excrement. It also incorporates an odor cleaning function to maintain freshness. The device can be operated manually via its control panel or remotely through a smartphone application (Tuya App).

Usage Features
Placement and Setup:
The device should be placed on a firm, flat ground, ensuring all four feet are in contact with the surface. It's crucial not to place items taller than 5CM within 30CM in front of the product to avoid interfering with the cat identification sensor. After placement, add cat litter between the MAX and MIN lines. The machine performs a self-check for 3-8 minutes upon powering on, after which it enters sensing mode.
Cat Litter Compatibility:
- Recommended: Mineral litter, Bentonite litter.
- Compatible: Tofu litter (diameter ≤ 2.5mm, length ≤ 15mm), Mixed litter of Tofu and Bentonite litter (diameter ≤ 2.5mm, length ≤ 15mm).
- Not Recommended: Crystal litter (does not clump well), Tofu litter with length > 15mm (poor fluidity, may get stuck), Low-density cat litter like pine wood or activated carbon litter (difficult to pass through filter).
Operational Modes:
- Auto Cleaning Mode: Activated automatically after self-check or by pressing button "1" on the panel/ "AUTO" on the app. After a cat leaves, the device cleans clumped excrement in about 3 minutes (lasting 4 minutes) and then initiates a 30-minute smell cleaning function. The "cleaning wait time" and "cleaning interval" can be adjusted via the app, especially useful for fast-clumping litter or multi-cat households.
- Manual Clean Mode: Press button "2" on the panel or "Clean Now" on the app to initiate an immediate cleaning cycle.
- Remove Odor Mode: Press button "3" on the panel or "Remove Odor" on the app to start a 30-minute odor cleaning cycle. This also activates automatically for 30 minutes after every cleaning. Regular odor removal can be scheduled via the app.
- Add Cat Litter: In "Auto" mode, if more than 1kg of litter is added, the "Auto" indicator flashes. The litter is smoothed and weight calibrated after 30 minutes. This process can be expedited by long-pressing the "Remove Odor" button for 2+ seconds. Alternatively, power cycling the machine after adding sand also works.
- Replace Litter: Long-press button "4" for 2 seconds to initiate the litter change procedure, which rotates the ball bin clockwise for about 3 minutes. This allows for replacing the garbage bag. It's important to ensure the residual litter is near the MIN line to prevent overflow. The process can be canceled by long-pressing button "4" again.
- Child Lock: Activate or deactivate by pressing buttons "2" + "3" simultaneously for 2+ seconds, or via the "Child Lock" option in the app.
- Infrared Sensor Control: Button "4" on the panel or the app option can turn the bucket infrared sensor on/off, useful if the device is in a narrow space or cage to prevent false detections.
- Timing (Sleep Mode): "Do not Disturb Timing" can be set in the app to prevent night-time activation from disturbing sleep. During DND, the panel light is off.
- Timing (Regular Clean-up/Deodo): Schedule regular cleaning and odor removal via the "Clean Timing" and "Deodo Timing" options in the app.
App Integration:
The device connects to the "Tuya" App (available by scanning a QR code or searching in app stores). Networking requires the phone to be connected to 2.4G WiFi, with Bluetooth and Location enabled. Long-pressing button "1" on the product panel for 2 seconds makes the WiFi symbol flash, indicating it's ready for network distribution. The app allows for adding equipment automatically or manually. The app provides real-time data on excretion time, cat weight, and allows control over all operational modes and settings.
Maintenance Features
Cleaning the Barrel Bin:
- Power off the machine.
- Open the buckle of the barrel compartment and lift the bin.
- Dry the bin thoroughly before placing it back onto the base.
Replacing Garbage Bag:
When the "Full" indicator lights up, the garbage bag needs replacement.
- Press button "2" for 2 seconds to adjust the waste bin to the bag changing angle (lasts 60 seconds).
- Open the waste bin and remove the used garbage bag.
- Align the drawstring of the new bag with the tie-up pile and clamp the lower edge of the bag opening under the locating clip.
- Wrap the bag around the outer frame of the waste bin gate and pull out the drawstring.
- Press the drawstring into the tie-up pile, tighten, and wind it.
- Ensure the automatic flip door of the waste bin is not blocked and can open/close normally. Arrange the back of the bag to prevent it from being caught by the waste bin cover.
Troubleshooting (Fault Self-Check Method):
- Within 2 minutes of re-powering, click button "3" more than 5 times continuously to enter detection mode.
- In testing mode:
- Click each key to check functionality (confirms PCB hardware).
- Press the machine from the top with >1kg force to check if the "Full" indicator flashes (confirms weight sensor).
- Check if the bin icon lights up (confirms motor).
- Check if the WiFi icon lights up (confirms WiFi hardware).
- Cover the infrared sensor at the barrel mouth; if the "Auto" icon flashes, the sensor is good.
- Re-power the machine after checking.
General Troubleshooting (FAQ):
- Incorrect Weight Data: Check if the cat fully enters the machine, if the machine is on a flat surface, or if the sand needs calibration (long-press "3" for 2 seconds).
- Motor Failure/Fault Indicator: If self-check takes >15 minutes or fault indicator is on, check for improper barrel compartment installation or foreign matter stuck in rotation.
- Long Clearing Time: Lower rotation speeds are less scary for timid cats; frequent cat entries prolong cleaning.
- Machine Rotates Backwards: This is to save sand and increase collection bin capacity.
- Poop Not Cleaned: Check for blockages by cat litter or garbage bag at the entrance, or if garbage is too large.
- Sand Leaking During Bag Replacement: Press button "2" for 2 seconds to rotate the litter bin 90° counterclockwise, ensuring the bag mouth is upward.
- Machine Not Stopping with Cat Entry: The machine won't stop during sand leveling or weight calibration, but its design (±45° rotation angle) is safe.
Notices:
- Avoid picking up or dragging the product after powering up, as this interferes with weight calibration.
- During clearing, all keys are suspended.
- The "Full" prompt is a reference; its delay can be adjusted in the app based on litter type.
- Storage capacity: 15 days for one cat, 5 days for three cats. Replace bags every 5 days or based on conditions.
- If network configuration fails, check WiFi (2.4G band), Bluetooth, Location, WiFi indicator, router functionality, password, signal strength, and IP conflicts. For dual-frequency routers, separate 2.4G and 5G channels.
- If scheduled procedures overlap with DND time, odor and cleaning will be performed first, then DND mode resumes.
