The Smokin Brothers Wood Pellet BBQ Grill is a versatile outdoor cooking appliance designed for grilling, smoking, baking, and roasting. It features a Premier PID Controller for precise temperature management and offers a "Family Tradition" approach to BBQ.
Function Description:
The grill operates using wood pellets as fuel, which are fed into a fire pot by an auger. An igniter hot rod starts the combustion, and a combustion draft fan circulates smoke and heat within the cooking chamber, similar to a convection oven. The digital control allows users to set and maintain desired cooking temperatures from 160°F to 550°F. It supports a 3-phase cooking program (Smoke, Cook, Hold) for unattended operation, allowing users to set specific times and temperatures for each phase. A food probe can be used to monitor internal food temperature or to cook to a specific internal temperature. The grill also includes a "Cool Down" cycle that runs the fan until the grill temperature drops below 120°F, and an "Auto-relight" feature that attempts to reignite the fire if the temperature falls too low. The controller detects if the cooking chamber door is open and pauses the relight program until the door is closed and temperature recovers. An auger bypass feature allows for continuous auger operation to quickly reach high grilling temperatures. Indicating lights show when various components (fan, igniter, auger) are in use.

- Fan Shut Off Temperature (Fant): Default 120°F, adjustable from 100-150°F.
- Power On Temperature (PuSt): Initial startup temperature, default 180°F, adjustable from 160-300°F.
- Fuse: 5A 250V mini spade.
- Hopper Capacity: Minimum 18 lbs of pellets, providing up to 30 hours of cooking depending on temperature and weather.
- Construction: Heavy-duty American steel, Made in America.
Usage Features:
- Initial Firing Instructions: Includes a test of internal parts (auger, igniter, draft fan) and a recommended initial burn-in at 325°F for 60 minutes without food.
- Manual Lighting: Instructions provided for manually lighting pellets with fire gel if the hot rod igniter fails.
- Temperature Setting: Easy adjustment of setpoint value (SV) using arrow keys.
- Display Modes: Display Mode 1 shows current and target temperatures. Display Mode 2 shows auger output as a percentage of cycle time and allows switching between Automatic and Manual Control Modes.
- Manual Control Mode: Allows users to manually adjust the auger runtime percentage.
- Programmable Cook Mode: Offers "Smoke," "Cook," and "Hold" phases with customizable temperatures and times. Can cook to a specific food temperature using the food probe.
- Cold Smoke Mode: Runs only the fan for cold smoking applications, requiring external smoke generation (e.g., smoking tube) and ice for temperature control.
- Auto-tune Function: Improves controller performance by optimizing PID parameters for specific grill and cooking conditions.
- Auger Bypass: Allows continuous auger operation for faster temperature increases.
- Safety Warnings: Emphasizes disconnecting power before service, not leaving the grill unattended, and setting fan speed to 3 for cooking above 225°F to prevent grease fires.
Maintenance Features:
- Regular Cleaning: Drip pan and lower brace should be cleaned regularly to prevent grease buildup and fire risk. Aluminum foil can be used for easy cleanup.
- Grease Bucket: Should be emptied regularly, and can be lined with foil for easy grease removal.
- Ash Removal: Grill should be vacuumed to remove ash from the fire pot and inside the grill after approximately 20 hours of cooking or consuming one 20-pound bag of pellets.
- Temperature Detector Cleaning: The RTD temperature detector and cooking grids should be cleaned after each cooking session for proper temperature reading and extended life.
- Surface Cleaning: Wipe the grill's surface with a non-abrasive cleaner and cloth to remove baked-on food and grease.
- Pellet Storage: Cover the grill or move it indoors to keep pellets dry, as wet pellets should not be used.
- Warranty: 3-year limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship under normal residential use and recommended maintenance. Warranty is void if the unit is not operated according to manual instructions, resold, abused, not maintained, or not disconnected from electric before storage/repair. Does not cover rust, oxidation, fading, discoloring, blemishes, or replacement due to adjustment or alignment of parts or components.
