RULESOFTHEGAME
TheobjectofthegameistoreachtheGameGoalbeforeyouropponent.
HOWTOSTART:
‐A coin toss decides who startsthe game. The winner of the coin toss also decidesif the
gamewillstartfromtheleft ortheright.
‐The first weight (Blue) is slid from the front of the table towards the back, so that it
bouncesfromtheback
bumperontotheothersideoftheplayingsurface.
‐Theopponentthenslideshis/herweight(Red)sothatitbouncesfromthebackbumperto
trytobumpofftheblueweightortoplacehis/herweightbeyondtheBlue.
‐Theplayerscontinuetotaketurnsuntilallthe8
weightsareplayed.
‐Atthispoint,theplayersdeterminewhichteamscoresandaddthescorefromthisround
tothegamescore.
‐Thegamethencontinuesfromtheotherside,withtheplayerwhoscoredlaststartingthe
playinthenextround.
‐Play continues by alternating sides
until the total game score of one of the opponents
reachesorexceedstheGameGoal.
SCORINGOFPOINTS:
SnapBackShuffleboard
®isnormallyplayedtoaGameGoalof21points,althoughthegoal
canbeadifferentnumberuponmutualconsentofthecontestants.
‐ When a weight comes to rest on a scoring (Black) line, that weight scores the smaller
number.Theweightmustclearthefirstlinecompletely
toscore.
‐Ifaweightcomestorestbeforeenteringthescoringsurfacearea,itmustberemovedfrom
theplayingsurfacebeforetheopponentplaysthenextweight.
‐Ifaweightisoverhangingthefrontoftheplayingsurface(4pointsarea),thatweighthasa
scoreof5
points.
‐Onlyoneplayercanscorepointsinaround.
‐ Point total for a round is the sum atthe pointsfor each weight that is closer tothe front
endoftheplayingsurfacethananyoftheopponent'sweights.
ExampleA:lf,afterthrowingall8weights,thereisaBlueweightandaRedweightinthe4
pointsection,buttheRedweightisaheadoftheBlue,onlytheRedscorespoints.
ExampleB: Ifthereare2Blueweightsaheadof theRed weights,the 2Blue weightsscore
points,andtheRedweightsdonotscore.
STRATEGY:
Aneffectivestrategy would beto slideyourweightsintoscoring position,then toshield
those weights from your opponent by using later turns to block them from being knocked
outofscoringposition.
