Overview

The Solo Stove Hub is an innovative accessory designed to transform your Solo Stove fire pit into a versatile cooking station, allowing you to rediscover the joy of outdoor cooking and create memorable moments around the fire. It promotes a modular and shareable cooking experience, making it a perfect tool for entertaining and enjoying good food outdoors.

Function Description:

The Hub serves as a stable base for various cooking surfaces, enabling open-fire cooking directly over your Solo Stove fire pit. It facilitates the creation of a coal bed, which is essential for consistent and even cooking temperatures. By integrating with your existing Solo Stove fire pit, the Hub extends its utility beyond just a heat source, turning it into a full-fledged outdoor kitchen. It's designed to be user-friendly, with a straightforward assembly process that makes setting up for a cookout as simple as setting a table.

Important Technical Specifications:

The Hub is constructed from durable 304 stainless steel, ensuring longevity and resistance to the elements and high cooking temperatures. It is designed to be compatible with Solo Stove's Ranger, Bonfire, and Yukon fire pits. For the 30" Yukon models purchased before July 1, 2020, an additional 30" Yukon Adapter Ring is required for proper installation, replacing the standard flame ring. The Hub itself is designed to rest securely on top of the fire pit's flame ring (or the Adapter Ring for specific Yukon models). When paired with Solo Stove cooktops, the cooktops feature interlocking feet that ensure even balance and centering on the Hub, enhancing safety and stability during cooking. The Hub also features 360° access windows, allowing users to tend to the cooking coals from any angle without removing the Hub or the cooking surface.

Usage Features:

  • Easy Assembly: The Hub is installed by placing it wide-side down directly over the fire pit's flame ring. It centers itself inside the outermost edge of the fire pit and rests securely.
  • Cooking Surface Integration: Once the Hub is in place, cooking surfaces can be safely centered on top. For cooking surfaces with supportive feet, these feet hug the outside of the Hub's upper ring (or the inside for Yukon models), ensuring secure placement.
  • Open Fire Cooking: The process begins with building a coal bed. Users are advised to gather fire starters, kindling, and firewood, placing them in the center of the fire pit's Base Plate. A cross-stacking method is recommended for the logs (6-8 medium-sized logs for Ranger/Bonfire, 8-10 for Yukon), with two logs forming a base, and subsequent logs placed perpendicularly on top, creating a tic-tac-toe pattern.
  • Preheating: After the logs burn down to embers (flames a few inches tall), the embers should be spread along the inner walls of the fire pit, keeping the center of the Base Plate clear. The cooking surface is then preheated on the Hub for 5-10 minutes until it reaches approximately 450°F. This preheating is crucial for preparing the surface for grilling and reducing sticking.
  • Temperature Maintenance: Surface temperatures between 200-500°F can be maintained by occasionally adding small pieces or chunks of hardwood. Cast iron cookware is particularly effective at retaining heat evenly.
  • 360° Access: The Hub's design allows for tending to cooking coals and adding wood from any angle, enhancing convenience and user interaction during cooking.
  • Storage: For easy transport and storage, the Hub is designed to nest inside the fire pit. Once cooled, remove the Hub and flame ring (or Adapter Ring), invert the Hub, and place it wide-side up inside the fire pit. The inverted flame ring can then be placed on top, making the Solo Stove ready for travel or the next cooking session.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: After the fire pit and Hub have completely cooled, they can be cleaned using an all-purpose stainless steel cleaner, such as Bar Keepers Friend, and a dry cloth for exterior grease marks.
  • Material Care: Both the Hub and the fire pit are made of 304 stainless steel and should not be cleaned with chainmail, harsh chemicals, or abrasive materials to preserve their finish and integrity.

Safety Guidelines:

  • The Hub is specifically designed for safe use with Solo Stove fire pits; it should not be used with other fire pits or open flames.
  • Always use the correct size Hub for your specific Solo Stove fire pit model.
  • When using Solo Stove cooktops, their interlocking feet ensure stability. Using other cookware that is uneven or unbalanced is not recommended, as it could lead to falling, slipping, or shifting, potentially causing injury.
  • The fire pit should always be placed on level and stable ground before use.
  • Never attempt to move the fire pit with the Hub or cooking surfaces in place.
  • A warning is provided regarding combustion products, stating that using the product with an open flame can expose users to chemicals including carbon monoxide, which is known to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. Users are directed to www.P65warnings.ca.gov for more information.

The Solo Stove Hub is more than just an accessory; it's an invitation to elevate your outdoor experience, combining the warmth and ambiance of a fire pit with the joy of delicious, open-fire cooking.
