The picture noise appears.
Clean the disc.
If video from this system has to go through your
VCR to get to your TV, the copy-protection
applied to some DVD programs could affect
picture quality. If you still experience problems
after checking your connections, please try
connecting this system directly to your TV’s
S video-input, if your TV is equipped with this
input (page 65).
When you play a VIDEO CD, the color system is
different. Set the color system to match your TV
(page 35).
The aspect ratio of the screen cannot be
changed even though you set “TV TYPE” in
“SCREEN SETUP” in the Setup Display when
you play a wide picture.
The aspect ratio is fixed on your DVD.
If you connect the system with the S-video cable,
connect directly to the TV. Otherwise, you may
not change the aspect ratio.
Depending on the TV, you may not change the
aspect ratio.
Tape Deck
The tape does not record.
The tab has been removed from the cassette (see
“To save a tape permanently” on page 73).
The tape has reeled to the end.
The tape does not record nor play, or there is
a decrease in sound level.
The heads are dirty (see “Cleaning the tape heads”
on page 73).
The record/playback heads are magnetized (see
“Demagnetizing the tape heads” on page 73).
The tape does not erase completely.
The record/playback heads are magnetized (see
“Demagnetizing the tape heads” on page 73).
There is excessive wow or flutter, or the sound
drops out.
The capstans or pinch rollers are dirty (see
“Cleaning the tape heads” on page 73).
Noise increases, or the high frequencies are
erased.
The record/playback heads are magnetized (see
“Demagnetizing the tape heads” on page 73).
After pressing hH or Z, there is a
mechanical noise, “EJECT” appears in the
display, and the unit enters standby mode
automatically.
The cassette tape is not inserted correctly.
Tuner
There is severe hum or noise (“TUNED” or
“STEREO” flashes in the display).
Adjust the antenna.
The signal is too weak. Connect an external
antenna.
Set “DVD POWER OFF” by DVD power manage
function (page 48).
A stereo FM program cannot be received in
stereo.
Press REPEAT/FM MODE on the remote so that
“MONO” disappears.
Rear amplifier
The ON LINE indicator flashes in red.
Move the wireless system away from any other
nearby wireless system(s).
Point the IR transmitter at the IR receiver.
If other troubles not described
above occur, reset the system as
follows:
Use buttons on the unit for the operation.
1 Press x, DISPLAY and GROOVE at the
same time.
2 Unplug the power cord.
3 Plug the power cord back in.
4 Press ?/1 to turn on the power.
The system is reset to the factory settings except
for DVD settings. You should set the settings
you made, such as the preset stations, clock, and
timer.
To reset the DVD settings, select “RESET” in
step 2 of “Using the Setup Display (page 32).
After you select “RESET” and press ENTER on
the remote, select “YES”, then press ENTER on
the remote to reset the settings (it takes a few
seconds to complete). Do not press
?/1 when
resetting the system.
