[] (Spot) This mode measures light only in the spot metering circle in
the center of the frame. This is suitable for shooting a subject
with strong contrast or measuring the light of a specific area
of the screen. If the area to be measured is not in the center of
the screem use AE lock to take the picture/page 67).

This canlera divides the screen into 40 segnlents to measure light; 39
honeycomb shaped nletering elements and one mctering elenlent thai covers
the surrounding area. These elements work in sync wilh aumlocus, allowing
tile canlera to accurately measure file posilkm and brighmess of the subjecl no
matter where il is on the screen in order to delermine tile exposure. This
melering nlethod enables the canlera to nleasure light in a way nlosl similzlr to
thai of tile hlllnan eye, which is ideal lor general shooting, including shooting
into direct sunlight.
• In mulli-segmenl nlclering (40-segnlent honeycomb pattern metering), iflhe IL_cus is locked by
pressing and hoMing the shulter button hallway down, tile exposure lille shulter speed and tile aperture)
is locked simultaneously (only when autoR_cus is used and the AF mode is sel lo either [1_ (Single-
shot AF) or _ (Aulomalic AF)).
