Chrominance
signal
The
signal
that
carries
information
about
hue
and
color.
Also
called
the
C
signal.
Composite
video
signal
A
signal
that
consists
of
video,
sync,
and
color
burst
signals.
CTL
signal
Abbreviation
for
control
signal.
In
players,
regular
pulses
are
used
to
synchronize
the
tape
travel
and
the
scanning
position
of
the
video
heads.
These
are
recorded
on
a
special
track
so
that
the
video
heads
can
scan
the
playback
tape
accurately.
Jitter
Small,
rapid
aberrations
in
the
horizontal
or
vertical
size
that
may
appear
on
a
display
because
of
phase
deviations
in
the
synchronized
signal.
This
may
be
caused
by
noise
or
inconstant
tape
transport
or
head
drum
rotation
when
the
VTR
is
recording
or
playing
back.
Luminance
signal
The
signal
that
determines
the
brightness
of
the
picture.

video
signal
Separated
video
signals:
Y
(luminance)
signal
and
C(chrominance)
signal.
Separating
the
video
signals
results
in
less
deterioration,
compared
with
the
composite
video
signal
mixed

and

signal.
