General This section explains the PCSA V3.0 installation procedure. For detailed
installation procedures, refer to the appropriate DEC manuals. If you are not
familiar with this product, it is strongly recommended that you read the PCSA
release notes, Installation Guide, Overview, and Memory Solutions manual
before proceeding.
Installation Perform the following steps to install PCSA hardware and software.
Procedure
Step 1. Install DEC DEPCA Board
Use the default jumper settings on the board.
NOTE
If other boards are installed in the PC Workstation, IRQ
interrupt and memory addressing conflicts may occur.
Step 2. Verify Location of CONFIG.SYS
Verify that CONFIG.SYS is located in the root directory. Note that DECnet
modifies this file for proper startup.
Step 3. Get Node Name
Obtain the DECnet node name and address from the network administrator.
Each DECnet node must have a unique name and address.
Step 4. Install PCSA Software
Refer to the PCSA installation guide for detailed information. Note that MS-
Windows files are not required by the PC Workstation software.
NOTE
To perform an installation verification, the node name and
address for a VAX node on the same network must be
known.
