Criteria for discarding
► Examine the hard hat at regular
intervals for visible faults (e.g.
cracking, discoloration). A hard
hat that is altered or damaged
must be replaced immediately.
► After stress such as a severe
impact the hard hat must be
replaced even if the damage is
not externally visible.
Service life
The hard hat should not be used for
more than four years from the date
of manufacture printed on it (see
date dial in the shell of the hat) and
it should not be used for more than
3,500 hours from the date of first
use.
► It is essential to replace the hard
hat at the right time.
The hard hat starts to age from the
day of first use. Please note the
label with the “Issue date” informa‐
tion.
► Mark the date of first use on the
label inside the hard hat with a
permanent marker.
