Operation 4
Emergency operation
Emergency lowering valve
NOTE
For this truck type, a hand-operated valve is
installed in trucks with a possible cab lift height
of 3 m and above. This valve can be used
to lower the lifted cab. To do so, rotate the
knurled-head screw (1) anticlockwise. When
the lowering procedure is complete, rotate the
valve clockwise to close it again. Do not adjust
any others screws apart from the knurled-head
screw on the emergency lowering valve.
Emergency lowering of the driver's cab
Leaving the driver's cab in an emergency
situation
If a technical defect causes the truck to shut
down when the driver's cab is raised, or if an
operator in the raised cab becomes incapable,
e.g. falls unconscious, of operating the truck,
the driver's cab can be lowered by a second
person on the ground using the hand-operated
emergency lowering valve.
WARNING
Risk of injury
Theattachmentandloa
d must have enough space
from the racking on all
sides. Otherwise, safe
lowering of the cab ca
nnot be guaranteed.
If the operator fa
lls unconscious, make sure that all
parts of the body ar
e completely inside the driver's
cab and that there i
s no risk of injury for the operator
during the lowering
procedure.
The operator of the e
mergency lowering valve must
be certain that the
moving components of the lift
mast are immediate
ly set in motion on opening the
valve. Special atte
ntion must be given to the cab,
the chains and the
inner masts of the lift mast.
All of the load c
hains in the lift mast must remain taut
throughout th
e whole of the lowering procedure. If
the componen
ts of the lift mast are not immediately
set in motio
n after opening the emergency lowering
valve, clos
e the valve immediately.
If the view t
hat the operator of the emergency
lowering v
alve has of the lift mast is obstructed,
athirdpe
rson with full view of the lift mast must
be involv
ed. This third person must be able to
communi
cate clearly with both the operator of the
loweri
ng valve and the truck operator.
If a mov
ement like the one described cannot be
detec
ted immediately or if one of the chains has
sla
ckened, a mechanical jam at the lift mast is
susp
ected. The emergency lowering procedure
mus
t then be stopped immediately by closing the
em
ergency lowering valve.
The operator must then be retrieved some other
