Overview

The Strida is a unique, portable folding bicycle designed for urban commuting and easy storage. Its distinctive A-frame design and belt drive system set it apart from traditional bicycles, offering a "whole new way to move."

Function Description:

The Strida is primarily a single-speed (or optionally 3-speed with the EVO KS3 bottom bracket) folding bicycle. Its core function is to provide a convenient and efficient mode of personal transportation that can be quickly folded and unfolded for multimodal travel (e.g., combining cycling with public transport like subways or trains) or compact storage. The belt drive system eliminates the need for a greasy chain, making it cleaner and lower maintenance than conventional bicycles. The quick-release (QR) seat adjustment allows riders of varying heights to comfortably use the bicycle.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Rider Weight Limit: Maximum 100 kg (220 lbs).
  • Rider Height Range: Minimum 4' 9" (1.50m) to Maximum 6' 4" (1.93m).

  • Stopping Distance: Maximum 4.5 meters at 16 kph using either brake.
  • Bolt Torque Specifications (Maintenance):
    • Bottom tube bolts: 12 Nm
    • Handlebar bolts: 8 Nm
    • Seat post bolts: 3 Nm
    • Rear wheel bolts: 34-38 Nm (+rite-lok TL70)
    • Front wheel bolts: 32-36 Nm (+rite-lok TL70)
    • Crank bolts: 5-7 Nm
    • Brake caliper bolts: 6-7 Nm
    • Brake lever bolts: 10-12 Nm
    • Seat mounting bolts: 6 Nm
    • QR seat hex head screw: 10kgf.cm / 1Nm (approx. 10 Nm)
    • Saddle spanner tightening: 250-350 kgf.cm / 25-35 Nm (approx. 25-35 Nm)
  • EVO KS3 3-Speed Bottom Bracket Torque Specifications:

    • High Gear: 1.26
  • Belt Tension: 6.5-8.5 lbs.

Usage Features:

  • Folding Mechanism: The Strida features a simple and quick folding process. It involves pushing a safety lever, folding the main frame, securing the bottom tube, and folding the handlebars. Unfolding is the reverse process, ensuring all components "click" into place.
  • Portability: Once folded, the Strida can be easily carried (e.g., up stairs) or rolled on its wheels. It can also be stored upright or taken onto public transport like subways and trains.
  • Quick Release (QR) Seat Adjustment: The seat height can be adjusted to accommodate different riders. This involves lifting the carrier (if fitted), opening bottom and top QR levers, pulling the QR locking lever at 90 degrees, adjusting the seat mounting molding along the rear tube, and then locking the QR levers. The seat pin itself has two holes for initial height setup (lower for 4'9"-5'9" riders, upper for 5'9"-6'4" riders).
  • EVO KS3 3-Speed Gear Changing (Optional): This advanced feature allows for gear changes by back-pedaling. A "click" sound indicates a gear shift. The process involves back-pedaling in a specific "blue zone" (between 330° and 90° crank rotation) until the desired gear "clicks" into place, then pedaling forward.
  • Brakes: The Strida uses disc brakes. The manual emphasizes checking brakes before riding and notes that wet weather increases stopping distance. Brake lever angle can be adjusted to suit the rider's hand size.
  • Magnetic Wheel Clip: The bicycle uses a magnetic clip to hold the wheels together when folded. The strength of this magnet can be adjusted if it's too strong.

Maintenance Features:

  • Pre-ride Safety Checks: Before each ride, users are instructed to ensure the bottom tube is locked, the handlebar lever is closed, brakes are checked, and tire treads and inflation (40-65 psi) are correct. All bolts and fastenings should be correctly tightened.
  • Bolt Torque Checks: The manual provides a detailed diagram with specific torque values for various bolts across the bicycle, including the bottom tube, handlebars, seat post, wheels, cranks, brake calipers, and brake levers. These should be checked regularly.
  • Tire Removal: Instructions are provided for removing tires, which involves deflating the tire and using tire levers.
  • Brake Adjustment: The manual shows how to adjust the brakes to ensure proper function and stopping distance.
  • Belt Tension Adjustment: The belt tension should be maintained between 6.5-8.5 lbs. Over-tightening can strain bearings and reduce efficiency.
  • QR Seat Maintenance: Instructions for removing and assembling the QR seat components are provided, including torque settings for the hex head screw and spanner tightening for the saddle. Users are advised not to use lubricant on the seat mounting or seat tube to ensure positive grip.
  • EVO KS3 Bottom Bracket Maintenance: Routine lubrication is not required for the KS3. However, during a major service, greases should be replenished or replaced for internal transmission parts by a qualified dealer. Users are warned not to disassemble the KS3 internal.
  • Warranty: The Strida comes with a limited warranty: five years for the frame/frameset and one year for original components. The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal conditions and proper maintenance. It does not cover normal wear and tear, improper assembly/maintenance, or damage from abuse, neglect, or alterations. All warranty claims require presentation to an authorized Strida distributor with proof of purchase.
