Overview

The Studiomaster Professional XR 40 is a high-quality dual UHF Wireless technology system designed for demanding touring environments and installations. This system offers exceptional flexibility and versatility, ensuring reliable performance for various applications. It allows two microphones to be used simultaneously, making it suitable for scenarios requiring multiple audio inputs.

Function Description

The XR 40 system comprises a receiver and various transmitter options, including handheld, lapel, and conference microphones. The receiver is the central unit that processes signals from the transmitters. It features a clear LED screen that displays the fixed operating frequency for each channel. Audio Indication LEDs light up to confirm signal reception, while Channel Select Indication LEDs show when a transmitter is active. Volume controls on the receiver allow for precise adjustment of the input signal level for each channel. The receiver also includes a power ON/OFF switch for easy operation.

On the rear panel, the receiver provides balanced audio outputs (3-pin XLR female connectors) for connecting to mixers, amplifiers, or powered speakers, ensuring high-quality audio transmission. A mixed output (1/4" (6.35) unbalanced TRS jack) is also available for connecting a combined audio signal to a mixer, amplifier, or powered speaker. The DC input jack (12VDC) powers the unit. Antennas on the receiver are crucial for signal reception; they should be fully extended for optimal strength.

The handheld transmitter (XR-40H) features a protective grill that shields the capsule from damage and acts as an effective wind and pop filter. An LED screen on the handheld unit displays the channel frequency, providing visual confirmation of its operation. A power ON/OFF switch controls the transmitter's power. Battery indication is provided through an LED: a quick blink and subsequent OFF indicates good/new batteries, while continuous ON signifies weak batteries. If the LED remains OFF and the screen still displays the frequency, it indicates dead batteries.

The body pack transmitter (XR-40L) is designed for lapel microphones. It includes a transmission antenna, a power ON LED that illuminates when the unit is switched on, and a mic input socket for connecting the lapel microphone. A display shows the fixed frequency, and a power ON/OFF switch controls the microphone. The body pack also has a battery cover for easy access to the battery compartment and a belt clip for convenient wearing.

The conference transmitter (XR-40CC) features a high-quality mic capsule designed to pick up voices clearly. A mic LED indicates the microphone's active status. An LED display shows the fixed frequency. Low power indication is provided by an LED that lights up and then goes off when the ON/OFF switch is pressed; it becomes brighter when the battery is low. A microphone ON/OFF switch controls the conference transmitter, and a battery compartment holds two 1.5V AA batteries.

Usage Features

Operating the XR 40 system involves a straightforward process. First, ensure all connections between the receiver, mixer, and amplifier are correct, and turn down the volume on the amplifier or mixer. Next, power on the receiver; its display will show CH1, CH2 frequency, and the RF1, RF2 LEDs will be off, indicating no active transmitters. Then, switch on the transmitters. The RF1 and RF2 LEDs on the receiver will illuminate, confirming the availability of Transmitter 1 and 2, respectively. Finally, test the transmitters; the AF1 and AF2 LEDs will light up to indicate successful signal reception, and you can then gradually increase the volume on your amplifier or mixer.

For optimal performance, it is recommended to keep the receiver antenna visible from the transmitter position and minimize the distance between the transmitter and receiver. Obstructions between the transmitter and receiver should be avoided. Performing a "Walk Test" before any performance or presentation is crucial to identify and address any "dead spots" in the coverage area. If dead spots are found, adjust the receiver's location; if they persist, mark those spots and avoid them during use.

Maintenance Features

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of the Studiomaster Professional XR 40 system, several maintenance practices are recommended. Always keep the wireless receiver in a location that ensures good signal strength, away from direct sunlight and rain. The product should also be kept away from heavy magnetic or electromagnetic fields, as these can negatively affect its performance.

When the product is not in use for an extended period, it is advisable to remove the batteries from the transmitters and disconnect the power supply from the receiver. This prevents battery leakage and conserves power. If you need to remove batteries, always switch off the device first.

For any repairs or technical issues, it is crucial not to attempt to open or service any components yourself. Instead, contact an authorized Studiomaster Professional dealer for assistance. Using systems with the same frequency in close proximity should be avoided; if multiple systems are in use, ensure they are separated by a considerable distance to prevent interference. Regularly checking battery connections and ensuring correct polarity in the transmitters is also important for consistent operation. If the transmitter battery is weak or dead, replace it promptly to maintain signal strength and prevent interruptions.
