DESCRIPTION

Figure 2---6 Air Inlet System
tion is available. This option allows you to set the
compressor in a n automatic position whereby the
compressor will shut down (time delayed) when no
compressed air requirement is present and restart
as compressed air is needed.
2.7 AIR INLET SYSTEM, FUNCTIONAL D ESCRIP -
TION
Refer t o Figure 2 --- 6. The compressor inlet system
consists of an air filter, amaintenance gauge and
an air inlet valve.
The maintenance gauge, located on the compres-
sor instrument panel, indicates the condition of the
air filter. When the pointer reaches the red zone, filter
maintenance is required.
The butterfly -- type air inlet valve directly controls
the a mount of air intake to the compressor in re-
sponse to the operation of the Sullicon Control (Sec-
t ion 2. 5).
2.8 INSTRUMENTATION, FUNCTIONAL DESCRIP-
TION
R e f e r t o Fig u r e 2 --- 7 f or s p e c if ic loc a t i on of p a r t s d e -
scribed. The panel group consists of a number of
gauges, buttons, a nd status indicator lights. Refer
to Figure 2 --- 7 a s you read this segment. Loca te the
following: line pressure, sump pressure and dis-
charge temperature gauge and the air filter indi-
cator, separator and fluid filter restriction
gauges, alongwithstart, stop a nd reset buttons
and an hourmeter, located on starter panel.
Refer t o Figures 2 --- 2 for functional locations of t he
following indicators and controls:
S The line (terminal) pressure gauge is con-
nected to the dry side of the receiver downstream
from the check valve. It continually monitors the air
pressure.
S The sump pressure gauge continually monitors
the sump pressure at the various load and/or un-
load conditions.
S The discharge temperature gauge monitors the
temperature of the air leaving the compressor unit.
F or both air---cooled and water---cooled compres-
sors the normal reading is approximately 180 _F
