HOW TO USE YOUR SURGIPACK FLEXITIP DIGITAL THERMOMETER
1. Wait half an hour after showering or bathing, eating, drinking or smoking.
2. Before using, wipe the probe with an alcohol swab, then place in position (oral, rectal, axillary).
3. Press the on/off button to activate. The unit will beep and the display will read 188.8˚E about 2 seconds, showing digits are
in working order. After all segments show, the last-time temperature will appear about 2 seconds.
4. Following last-time temperature record, the standard temperature reading of 37.0˚C will appear. After that, the word Lo and
a flashing ˚C appear, the thermometer is in ‘ready to measure’ mode. (N.B. If the room temperature is higher than 32.0˚C,
the room temperature will be displayed instead of the word Lo.)
5. Once the degree sign (˚C) on the display stops flashing, the correct temperature will appear accompanied by a long beeping
sound in 10 seconds. The temperature reading will not change after the unit is removed from the area of measurement.
6. Press ON/OFF button to turn off the unit. (The unit will automatically turn off after 10 minutes). However,
to prolong the life of the battery, press the ON/OFF button to turn the unit off manually.
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
This product is fragile and should be handled with care especially when cleaning. Before and after each use, clean your
Surgipack Flexitip Digital Thermometer with a soft cloth and ethyl alcohol diluted with water to sterilize, or wash with COLD
soapy water. This unit is a water- resistant model, which may be dipped into water, as far up as the display window for
washing. However, submersing into water for extended periods is not recommended. Do not use boiling water, gas or steam
autoclaves.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
1. The letter “T” will appear in the lower right hand corner of the display when the battery needs to be replaced.
Replace batteries with either Eveready 392 or LR41 or equivalent.
2. Pull the battery cap away from the unit.
3. Remove the battery holder.
4. Use a non-metal pointed object to remove the battery and insert the new battery
with the positive (+) side facing upwards. Discard the old battery carefully
ensuring it is out of reach of children.
5. Carefully slide the battery cap back into place.
Note: Replace the battery away from small children and heat. Keep discarded battery out of reach of children.
PRECAUTIONS
1. Store the unit in the protective case provided when not in use.
2. Do not store the unit where it will be exposed to direct sunlight, dust or humidity. Avoid extreme temperatures.
3. Do not use boiling water, gas or steam autoclaves.
4. Do not drop or disassemble the unit. This thermometer is a fragile and is not shock proof.
5. Do not attempt to open the unit except to replace the battery.
6. This unit contains small parts which may be swallowed by children. Do not leave this thermometer with a child if unattended
by an adult.
7. Do not bend the unit.
