Overview

This document is the owner's manual for the "JASMINE 4-in-1 Convertible Crib" by Sweetpea Baby. It provides assembly instructions, safety warnings, conversion modes, and care instructions for the crib.

Function Description:

The Jasmine 4-in-1 Convertible Crib is a versatile piece of nursery furniture designed to adapt to a child's growth. It functions as a standard crib and can be converted into a daybed, a toddler bed, and a full-size bed. This multi-functional design allows the crib to be used from infancy through childhood, providing long-term value. The conversion options require additional components (toddler guard rail and full-size bed rails) that are not included with the crib and are sold separately.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Mattress Dimensions: Any mattress used in this crib must be at least 27-1/4 inches (69 cm) by 51-5/8 inches (131 cm).
  • Mattress Thickness: The mattress thickness should not exceed 6 inches (15 cm) and have a minimum thickness of 4 inches (10 cm). The dimensions are to be taken from seam to seam or edge to edge where appropriate.
  • Child Height Limit: Stop using the crib when the child begins to climb out or reaches a height of 35 inches (89 cm).
  • Mattress Support Panel Positions: The mattress support panel has multiple positions:
    • Lowest Position: For toddlers (babies who can stand up and walk).
    • Midposition: For infants (babies who start to turn and sit up).
    • Highest Position: For newborn babies.
  • Materials: The manual emphasizes the use of wood and non-toxic finishes specified for children's products.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: Adult assembly is required. The manual provides step-by-step instructions for assembling the crib, including attaching legs, side panels, headboard, stabilizer bar, mattress support panel, and footboard. An Allen Key is provided for assembly, but a Philips Screw Driver is also needed (not included).
  • Safety Tips:
    • Always read all instructions before assembling and using the product.
    • Do not use the product if it is damaged, broken, or if components are missing.
    • Small parts may present a choking hazard prior to assembly.
    • Do not use power drills or drivers during assembly to avoid overtightening bolts.
    • Place parts on a soft surface during assembly to prevent damage.
    • Pediatricians recommend placing healthy infants on their back to sleep to reduce the risk of SIDS.
    • Regularly check the crib for damaged hardware, loose joints, missing parts, or sharp edges before and after assembly and frequently during use.
    • Do not use a water mattress with this crib.
    • Strings can cause strangulation; do not place items with strings around a child's neck, suspend strings over a crib, or attach strings to toys. Tighten all fasteners.
    • Do not place the crib near a window where cords from blinds or drapes may strangle a child.
    • Infants can suffocate on soft bedding; never add a pillow, comforter, padding, or use plastic shipping bags/film as mattress covers.
    • Ensure the mattress fits snugly, leaving no more than a 3 cm gap between the mattress and any part of the crib sides.
    • When the child can pull to a standing position, set the mattress to the lowest position and remove bumper pads, large toys, or other objects that could serve as steps.
    • Ensure the side is in a raised and locked position whenever the child is in the crib (disregard for non-drop side cribs).
    • Do not use the crib if you cannot exactly follow the accompanying instructions or for a child who can climb out or is taller than 90 cm.
  • Conversion Modes:
    • Daybed: To convert to a daybed, remove the footboard. The mattress support panel must be in the lowest position. All hardware should be stored safely. The stabilizer bar must be installed for daybed use.
    • Toddler Bed: To convert to a toddler bed, remove the footboard and attach the Toddler Guard Rail (SKU - 692V, sold separately) using the bolts from the footboard removal. The mattress support must be in the lowest position.
    • Full-Size Bed: To convert to a full-size bed, disassemble the footboard and headboard. Remove the mattress support panel, followed by the left and right panels. All parts and hardware should be stored safely. Bed Rails (SKU - 849, sold separately) are required for this conversion. The manual specifies using a Bunky Board, Particleboard, or low-profile Boxspring before placing the mattress directly on wooden slats.
  • Recommended Mattress: For a safe and comfortable sleep experience, the manual suggests using Dream On Me or Evolur Greenguard Gold Certified Full-Size Mattress.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: Use only water on a damp cloth to clean surfaces. Do not use window cleaner or cleaning abrasive, as it will scratch the surface and could damage the protective coating.
  • Wood Furniture Care:
    • Room Climate Control: Wood is porous and responds to its environment. Maintain room humidity levels between 35% and 40% and temperatures between 65 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit to prevent shrinking, expanding, and cracking. Avoid placing furniture near air-conditioning outlets, fireplaces, radiators, space heaters, humidifiers, or dehumidifiers.
    • Sticking Doors and Drawers: Minor changes in temperature and humidity can cause swelling. Consider using a dehumidifier or rubbing candle wax/paraffin on sticking sides.
    • Avoid Direct Sunlight: Ultraviolet rays can fade colors, darken woods, cause crazing or hairline cracks, and yellow white finishes.
    • Proper Storage: Do not store furniture in damp basements or hot, dry attics. Ensure air movement around the furniture and avoid stacking.
  • General Furniture Care:
    • Protect surfaces from hot or extremely cold items using coasters.
    • Do not use synthetic fabric under accessories or lamps.
    • Protect tops from pens, markers, and crayons.
    • Oils from potpourri and other scented items can damage the finish.
    • Do not drag items across the surface.
    • Rotate accessories and lamps to allow the surface to breathe.
    • Do not over-polish (two or three times a year is sufficient) or wax the furniture.
    • Always lift the unit when moving furniture to avoid damage to legs.
    • Keep the furniture level for proper door and drawer function.
    • Clean with a damp, not wet, cloth and mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
    • Do not scratch or chip the finish.
    • Inspect the product periodically for replacement parts or questions.
    • Do not store the product or parts in extreme temperatures (hot attic, damp/cold basement) to prevent loss of structural integrity.
    • Place a doily or felt pad under items to preserve the luster of the finish.
    • Clean with a damp cloth, then a dry cloth to preserve luster and beauty.
    • Do not use abrasive chemicals or spray cleaners directly onto furniture.
    • Lift slightly when moving on carpeting to prevent leg breakage.
    • Avoid using vaporizers near furniture, as it can cause wood to swell and peel.
