Usage Features:

  • Controls: The mower is operated using motion control levers on each side of the console for direction and speed (Neutral, Slow Forward, Fast Forward, 90° Right/Left Turn, 360° Right/Left Turn, Slow Reverse).
  • Starting: Requires the operator to be seated, parking brake engaged, PTO disengaged, and control handles in neutral. An interlock button must be depressed while turning the ignition key.
  • Cutting Height Adjustment: Achieved by pushing the Deck Lift Pedal forward, placing a locator pin in one of eight holes, and slowly releasing the pedal. Position 1 is highest, Position 8 is lowest.
  • Parking Brake/Transmission Bypass: A manual parking brake is linked with transmission bypasses. The brake is engaged by pulling up on both handles until locked. Disengagement involves pushing down on lock plates. The transmission bypass is engaged by pulling up only the inside lever, allowing rear wheels to turn freely for pushing/pulling the unit. Both should only be engaged on level ground when the vehicle is stationary.
  • Fuel Shut-Off Valves: Two valves, one for each tank, located behind the seat and in front of the engine. Only one tank should be used at a time to prevent air from being pulled into the system.
  • Seat Adjustment: A 4-inch range sliding seat is adjusted by pushing a grey tip lever to the left and sliding the seat to the desired position.
  • Operator Presence System: Ensures the engine only starts with the parking brake engaged and PTO disengaged. The engine will shut off if the operator leaves the seat without engaging the parking brake or disengaging the PTO.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Checks:
    • Before Each Use: Check brake operation, tire pressure, operator presence, parking brake, and for loose fasteners. Check belts and engine oil.
    • 8 Hours: Check brake operation and engine oil.
    • 25 Hours: Sharpen/replace mower blades (more often in sandy soil), check battery, clean battery & terminals, clean air filter (more often in dirty/dusty conditions).
    • 50 Hours: Change engine oil with/without filter (more often under heavy load or high ambient temperatures), inspect muffler.
    • 100 Hours: Replace oil filter (more often under heavy load or high ambient temperatures), replace spark plug.
    • Season: Replace fuel filter.
    • Before Storage: Check for loose fasteners, check battery, clean battery & terminals.
  • Blade Maintenance: Blades must be kept sharp and replaced if bent or damaged. Instructions for safe removal and replacement are provided.
  • Battery Maintenance: Includes steps for cleaning terminals and cables, coating with dielectric grease or petroleum jelly, and proper reinstallation. Charging tips emphasize safety, proper charger hook-up, and avoiding overcharging.
  • V-Belts: Check for deterioration and wear before each use; replace if slipping. Detailed instructions for Deck Belt and Hydro Belt routing and replacement are included with diagrams.
  • PTO Clutch Adjustment: For Kawasaki engines, refers to an online resource for instructions.
  • Hydro Expansion Tank Oil Levels: Check when oil is cold; maintain at the "full cold" line. Add SAE 20w-50 engine oil if levels are low.
