The Taco On Command is a hot water recirculation system designed for easy pre-fabricated installation in existing homes with standard piping. It is available for models 006-CT-USK and 008-CT-USK. The primary function of the device is to provide instant hot water at fixtures, thereby saving energy and water by eliminating the need to run water until it heats up.
The Taco On Command system utilizes a "00" Cartridge circulating pump with built-in On Command Electronics, a power cord, an Integral Flow Check (IFC), and a mounting bracket. It also includes a starter button, and for "USK" models, a set of two 1/2" plumbing adapter tees and two 1/2" stainless steel flex lines. The system is designed to be installed at the fixture farthest away from the water heater, typically in the kitchen or master bathroom. If the hot water supply runs in two different directions from the water heater, more than one Taco On Command unit may be required.
The core of the system's operation lies in its state-of-the-art electronics, which accurately sense temperature and automatically shut off the pump to maximize comfort and energy savings. The patented Integral Flow Checks (IFC) are built into each pump to prevent cold water from entering the hot water line, ensuring that only hot water is circulated.
The "on-command" start feature allows the circulating pump to operate only when there is a request for hot water, as opposed to automatic timer-controlled systems. This manual starter button maximizes energy savings. When the On Command is operating, a green LED located on the pump motor housing will illuminate, indicating that the pump is activated and circulating water. The pump will automatically shut off once a rise in temperature is detected by the thermal sensor, or when the hot water temperature reaches a satisfactory level (below 100°F for testing purposes).
