Do you have a question about the Tanco Autowrap 1814 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Tanco Autowrap 1814 is a bale wrapping machine designed for agricultural use, capable of wrapping both round and square bales. It has been in operation since 2007 and is available in three models: ARC, S, and LA. The ARC and S models are designed for static operation, with the controller mounted in an enclosure on the machine and operable by radio remote control from the loading tractor. The LA model is self-loading for field operation and has its controller in the tractor cab.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Tanco Autowrap 1814 is to wrap agricultural bales with plastic film to preserve silage. It utilizes a patented, special mounting for its rollers, allowing it to handle both round and square bales. The machine can wrap square and rectangular bales ranging from 47 x 80 cm to 120 x 120 x 190 cm long, and round bales up to ø1500 mm. It can handle bales weighing up to 1500 kg. The wrapping process involves the rotation of a wrapping arm, which applies plastic film around the bale. The machine can operate in both automatic and manual modes, with the automatic mode offering a "one-touch wrapping" feature to simplify operation.

Usage Features:

The 1814 Autowrap is designed for ease of use with its EH Controller.

  • Operating Modes: Two modes are available: Automatic and Manual. Automatic mode allows for "one-touch wrapping," where the machine performs the complete loading, wrapping, and unloading cycle. In Continuous operation (an Operator Setup setting), the machine loads and unloads simultaneously, increasing output.
  • Controller Display: A 2-line, 32-character dot matrix, back-lit display shows current and target wrap numbers, wrapping speed (rpm), and bale totals (10 separate stores).
  • Menu Navigation: A 4-way menu switch allows access to settings for the number of wraps, bale sub-totals, Operator Setup menu, and Technician Setup menu.
  • Manual Functions (in Automatic mode): Operators can manually pause bale rotation (L1), cut and grip film (L2), slow wrap (L3), reverse the wrap arm (L4), add a wrap (R4), and unload bales (R5). Bale indexing (R1) allows for manual rotation of the bale to a desired position, particularly useful for rectangular bales.
  • Hand-held Controller: This controller is used for manually operating the load arm (Up/Down, Squeeze In/Out) and conveyor (Up/Down, In/Out). It is also used for folding and unfolding the machine for road transport.
  • Radio Frequency Remote Controller: Standard on static ARC and S models, and optional on the LA model, this allows full control of the wrapper from the loader tractor's cab. It includes functions for manual wrap arm rotation, film cut and start, adding wraps, and offloading bales.
  • Film Dispenser: The machine features a dual stretch gear system, allowing quick changes of stretch levels (70%, 55%, or 32%) on the film dispenser by adjusting the Gear Bolt position. The dispenser height can be adjusted to ensure the plastic film hits the center of the bale.
  • Bale Type Setup: Sensors on the rocking rollers provide angular position data to the controller, optimizing film application and ensuring consistent overlap, especially for rectangular bales. The rotational speed of the bale is automatically adjusted during wrapping.
  • Safety Features: An "EMERGENCY STOP" device is mounted on the wrapping arm to stop functions quickly if an obstacle is detected. This device must be tested before use and should never be disconnected. Safety decals are placed on various parts of the machine to highlight dangerous areas.

Maintenance Features:

  • Greasing: All pivot points, especially those articulating regularly (load arm, rocking rollers, discharge conveyor, cut and starts), require regular greasing, ideally daily. The ball-bearings on the rocking rollers and dispensers are pre-greased and require no further maintenance.
  • Film Dispenser Gears: The gears under the plastic cover on the dispenser should be greased as needed, particularly with daily use.
  • Cutter / Film Holder: This component is factory-adjusted and generally requires no further adjustments. When replacing parts, it needs to be adjusted so that 8-10mm of the bolt is exposed below the plate.
  • Cleaning: The machine should be cleaned and oiled regularly, especially at the end of the wrapping season. Care must be taken with electrical installations when using high-pressure washing. Electrical components should be dried with compressed air if necessary.
  • Hydraulic Cylinders: Hydraulic cylinders should be closed or the exposed cylinder rod covered in grease when storing the machine.
  • Quick Couplers: These should be kept clean, and dust caps applied after use.
  • Storage: The machine should be parked in a dry place during the closed season.
  • Oil Filter: The oil filter must be changed once a year.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide covering common issues such as the machine not functioning, the cutter not holding film, or the wrapping arm not rotating. It emphasizes checking oil pressure (180 bar from tractor, max 10 bar counter pressure), oil flow (50-70 liters/minute for LA, 30 liters/minute for ARC), and electric power (12V, not below 9V). It also advises contacting the dealer for complex problems.
