Overview

The Tayama Convection Oven TO-2000 is a multi-functional appliance designed for various cooking methods, including baking, roasting, grilling, toasting, broiling, and barbecuing. It also features a quick defrost/thaw function for frozen foods. The oven operates by circulating hot air, ensuring food is cooked evenly and retaining its natural flavor and nutrition. This method reduces the need for fats and oils, contributing to healthier meals and lowered cholesterol. The halogen convection oven is energy-efficient, saving up to 20% electricity compared to ordinary ovens and cooking 3 to 5 times faster.

Important Safety Instructions:

Before using the convection oven, it is crucial to read all instructions. Do not touch hot surfaces during or immediately after operation; always use gloves and allow metal parts to cool before cleaning. Use the handles when moving the unit. The oven is intended for indoor use only and should not be used outdoors. Ensure the electrical voltage and frequency match the appliance's rating label. To prevent electric shock, do not immerse the oven, cord, or plug in water or other liquids. The oven is not designed for operation with external timers or remote control systems. Only use attachments recommended by the manufacturer to avoid fire, electric shock, or injury. Do not use an extension cord unless absolutely necessary, and ensure it has a rating equal to or exceeding the appliance's. Avoid pulling or carrying the oven by its cord, using the cord as a handle, closing doors on the cord, or wrapping it around sharp edges. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces and do not bend or damage it. Always unplug the oven when not in use, and before cleaning, servicing, maintenance, or moving it. Never force the plug into an outlet. Do not place the appliance near hot gas or electric burners. Do not cover the appliance while in use, as this poses a fire risk. Improper installation can lead to fire, electric shock, or injury. If the supply cord or plug is damaged, contact customer service for a replacement. The manufacturer or retailer is not responsible for damages caused by improper or faulty use. The unit contains no user-serviceable parts; do not attempt to repair, disassemble, or modify it. Always operate the oven on a dry, level surface, avoiding sinks or uneven areas. Do not clean with metal scouring pads. Exercise extreme caution when moving the appliance if it contains hot oil or liquids. Do not move or lift the oven while the power cord is connected to the wall outlet. All metal items inside, such as oven racks, become very hot during cooking; use the supplied tongs when removing them. This appliance is intended for "Household Use Only" and similar applications.

Technical Specifications:

  • Voltage: 120 V / 60Hz
  • Rated power: 1200W
  • Thermostat: 65 – 250°C (149-482°F)
  • Timer: 0-60 minutes
  • Container capacity: Ø 300 x 150 mm
  • Gross weight: 8.5 kg
  • Net weight: 7 kg

Usage Features:

The convection oven features a 0-60 minute timer and a 65-250°C (149-482°F) temperature controller.

  • Cooking with racks: When using the accessory cooking racks, ensure there is enough space between the lid and the food. An optional Extension Ring accessory can be purchased separately to increase capacity.
  • Power connection: Insert the oven plug according to the power specifications. Do not share the same plug-set with other electrical appliances.
  • Timer setting: Turn the timer clockwise to the desired cooking time; the red indicator light will illuminate.
  • Temperature setting: Set the temperature controller clockwise to the desired temperature; the green light will illuminate, and the convection oven will begin cooking.
  • Temperature indicator: The green light turns off when the oven reaches the set temperature. If the oven's temperature drops below the set point, the heater will automatically turn on, and the green light will illuminate again to indicate the heating process.
  • Supervision: Always operate the oven under supervision and do not allow children to operate it.
  • Lid handling: Use caution when removing and handling the oven lid. Place it on a dish, bowl, or heat-resistant base/surface.

Maintenance Features:

  • Lid cleaning: Do not wash or immerse the oven lid in water. Clean the lid with a soft cloth and mild soap if it gets stained.
  • Oven body cleaning: The oven body can only be washed after it has completely cooled off.
  • Self-cleaning function: The convection oven has a self-cleaning function. Simply add 2 inches of water to the bottom of the bowl and set the temperature to 212°F for 10-12 minutes. For a very dirty oven, add some detergent to the water and wipe away stains if needed.
  • Food distribution: Distribute food evenly in the convection oven to ensure proper air circulation.
  • Non-stick spray: Since food can be placed directly on the wire rack, it is advisable to spray the rack with a non-stick spray to prevent sticking.

Cooking Tips and Recipes:

The manual provides a quick reference card for various cooking methods: roasting, baking, defrosting, steaming, frying, toasting, and broiling.

  • Broiling: Place food directly on the wire rack (low or high). For thick cuts of meat, turn at the halfway point. Broiling time varies based on cut, size, and fat content.
  • Steaming: Steam vegetables by placing them in an aluminum foil pouch with a few drops of water, sealed, and adding savory herbs and spices. A cup of water in the bowl can also be used to steam fish or vegetables.
  • Frying: Achieve deep-fry effects without excess oil by dipping potato strips in polyunsaturated cooking oil, draining excess, and cooking. For fried chicken, dip pieces in batter and cooking oil, drain, then cook according to the chart.
  • Toasting: Toast bread and snacks without preheating by placing them directly on the wire rack. The food will be crisp outside and soft inside. Stale snacks like crackers, chips, and cookies can be revived by placing them in the oven at maximum temperature for a few minutes.
  • Defrosting: Defrost frozen food more evenly than a microwave by setting the temperature to 212°F and checking every 5-10 minutes.
  • Cooking time variation: The cooking time for recipes can vary depending on the size of individual pieces and the total weight of food in the oven. The tempered glass bowl allows for easy monitoring of the cooking process.
