ADDITIONAL GENERAL INFORMATION:
Life Cycle, retirement:
For each use, perform the checks described in paragraph inspections (p. 23), Checking
Points. The device must also be checked by a competent inspector at least every twelve
months (annual inspection); the inspector should ll in the identication sheet available in
the annex, or a copy, with the model and its identication details (device number, purchase
date, year of manufacture, date of the rst use, exceptional events, history of inspections,
etc.) According to the intensity of the use, and factors such as ambient conditions or regu-
lations, the inspection frequency may increase.
The device must be retired :
> if it is subjected to exceptional circumstances, overloaded or dynamically loaded (a force
over 300kg, fall arrest), used inadequately (disregarding the above-mentioned chap-
ters), if falling from height to the ground, etc.
> if it presents any signs of damages, cracks or other degradation. (See Inspections,
Checking Points)
> if you do not know the complete history of the tool or if you have doubts regarding its
efciency,
> if the use of the device becomes obsolete (due changes in legislation, technical regula-
tions or due to incompatibility with other devices, etc.).
> 30 years after its manufacture date.
In order to avoid any future reuse, the retirement needs to be performed by means of a
destruction tool.
All modications, part changes, and repairs are forbidden outside the TAZ workshops.
Storage, Transport, Usage:
The device should never be exposed to extreme temperatures (more than 49°C or less
than -20°C).
The device must never come in contact with chemical products, particularly acids and
solvents. The device should be retired even if there is the smallest doubt regarding its
operational safety.
If you need to clean it, rinse the equipment with clean water. Air dry the equipment, away
from any direct heat sources.
Store the equipment in a dry place, away from UV rays, and chemical products.
The rotation axle of the mobile sheave can be lubricated gently. Proceed cautiously to avoid
contaminating the ropes (rope contamination and locking function failure can occur).
The contractual warranty is valid for three years, and applies to parts and workmanship of
the metallic parts exclusively for any manufacturing defects; the warranty excludes nor-
mal wear, inappropriate use, as well as damages caused by accidents, negligence and any
usage outside the scope of the intended use of the product.
TAZ will not be held liable for any direct, indirect, or accidental consequences, nor for any
other types of damages that occur or result from the use of the device.

Mountainering Equipment Braking device with a hand-assisted locking function,
type 6: belaying and descending devices with no anti-panic locking element.
FIELD OF APPLICATION: Belaying and Descending Device.
LOV3, a self-locking descender was designed and manufactured for rope progress. The
current intended use consists of descending and belaying.
REGULATORY INFORMATION: The device is compliant with EN 15 151-1:2012 when
used with semi-static ropes compliant with EN 1891:1998 Class A, with a diameter of
10≤Ø≤11mm, and with dynamic ropes compliant with EN 892:2012+A1, with a diame-
ter of 9.5≤Ø≤10.5mm.
WARNING :
> All users must receive training, must acquire the competences of appropriate tech-
niques, and must read the technical notices beforehand OR BE DIRECTLY SUPERVISED
BY A QUALIFIED AND COMPETENT PERSON. The knot at the loose end of the rope is
absolutely mandatory.
> Activities that involve working at height exposes the user to dangers that can cause se-
vere injuries or death.
> You agree to personally take responsibility for all risks of damage, injury or death that
can occur following the incorrect use of the equipment, regardless of the form. If you
cannot take this responsibility, do not use this device.
The equipment should not be used beyond its limits, nor in any other situation than its
intended use.

COMPATIBILITY
The attachment on the approved harness will be performed uniquely by the attachment
point of the LOV3 device by means of a locking connector compliant with EN 12275 (length
max. 12 cm).
While in use, always check that the connectors are loaded longitudinally.
The ropes must be compliant with EN 1891:1998 Class A ropes with a diameter of
10≤Ø≤11mm or with EN 892:2012+A1 ropes with a diameter of 9.5≤Ø≤10.5mm.
