Overview

This document describes the Peaktop 30" Rattan Base Tempered Glass Top Propane Firepit (HF30200AA-UK), a gas-fired outdoor appliance designed for warming and aesthetic purposes.

Function Description:

The Peaktop firepit is an outdoor heating appliance that uses liquid propane gas (LPG) to produce a flame, providing warmth and ambiance. It features a rattan base and a tempered glass top, designed for outdoor use in well-ventilated areas. The firepit is intended for warming purposes only and should not be used for indoor heating or burning solid fuels. It includes a burner assembly where lava rocks are placed, and a control knob for adjusting the flame. The unit is designed to be connected to an LPG cylinder, which is housed within the rattan base.

Usage Features:

  • Outdoor Use Only: This firepit is strictly for outdoor use in well-ventilated areas. It must not be used indoors, in a building, garage, or any other enclosed space, as toxic carbon monoxide fumes can accumulate.
  • Propane Fuel: Operates on liquid propane gas (LPG). Users must ensure the correct type of gas and LPG cylinder specified by the manufacturer are used.
  • Ignition and Flame Adjustment: The firepit features an ignition control knob. To light, turn the control knob to "OFF", open the gas tank valve, push the ignition control knob in fully, and rotate about 1/4 turn counterclockwise until a click is heard. Hold for 15 seconds once lit. Flame can be adjusted by turning the control knob clockwise or counterclockwise.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Always check the control knob is in the "OFF" position before assembly and before connecting the gas supply.
    • Ensure the gas tank sits completely on the metal stand.
    • Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors/liquids near the appliance.
    • An LPG cylinder not connected for use should not be stored near the firepit.
    • Maintain minimum clearances from combustible materials (182.9cm top, 91.5cm sides/back).
    • Do not locate under overhead unprotected combustible surfaces.
    • In case of gas smell, shut off gas supply, extinguish open flames, and evacuate the area.
    • Do not modify the appliance or move it during use.
    • Turn off gas supply at the container after use.
    • Keep young children away from hot surfaces.
    • Do not use in basements or below ground level.
    • Do not burn solid fuels.
    • Do not store another LP gas tank within 3.05m (10 feet) while in operation.
    • Do not use near automobiles, trucks, vans, or recreational vehicles.
    • Always use on a hard, level, non-combustible surface.
    • If any part has been under water, call a qualified service technician.
    • Do not wear flammable or loose clothing when operating.
    • Do not use under strong wind.
    • Keep electrical cords away.
    • Do not lean over when lighting or in use.
    • Use only the provided regulator and hose assembly.
    • LPG cylinders must be stored outdoors in a well-ventilated area, out of reach of children, with threaded valve plugs tightly installed.
    • Never store an LP gas tank where temperatures can reach over 50°C (125°F).
    • Always perform a leakage test on gas connections whenever an LPG cylinder is connected.
    • The guard on the burner should be free of lava rocks at all times to ensure proper function.
  • Assembly: The manual provides step-by-step instructions for assembling the firepit, including attaching panels, the metal stand, and the door, and connecting the regulator hose. Screws should not be fully tightened until the entire unit is assembled.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Inspection: Prior to each operation, check the hose for abrasion or wear. Examine the burner and its components for dirt, debris, spider webs, or nests.
  • Cleaning:
    • Use a soft brush to remove mild stains, loose dirt, and soil after the burner and pumice stones/lava rocks/LavaGlass® have cooled down.
    • Wipe down with a soft cloth.
    • Keep the heating item free and clear from combustible materials.
    • Keep the tank enclosure free and clear from debris.
    • Do not use powder or solvent on painted or plastic components.
  • Storage:
    • Store the product indoors during winter months to prevent exposure damage.
    • If storing indoors, disconnect the propane gas tank from the gas valve and store the tank outdoors.
    • Keep the heating unit stored away from direct sunlight.
    • Always place the lid (if applicable) or protective cover on the heating item when not in use.
  • Professional Servicing: The appliance should be inspected at least once a year by a Qualified Service technician. More frequent cleaning may be required depending on usage. Any guard or protective device removed for servicing must be replaced before operation.
  • Part Replacement: If the hose or burner is damaged, it must be replaced with a manufacturer-specified part. Contact the manufacturer for replacement parts. The gas regulator should be substituted not over 10 years.
