cost
of
software
for
your
computer
will vary
greatly, depending on the specificsoftware.
Most
software
intended
for
entertainment
edu
cational,
and
home
use
will
be
priced in
the
$10
to
$50 range. Software for business applications
tends
to
be
considerably higher in cost,
ranging
from
$50
to
$200
or
more.
Cassette
software
for
your
computer
is generally
priced in
the
$10
to
$40 range, while
cartridge
software
isoften priced in
the
$20
to
$50 range.
There
are
a
few
exceptions
to
such
costs:
the
Microsoft Multiplan electronic
spreadsheet
car
tridge
and
the
Tl Extended
BASIC
cartridge
both
cost
about
$100.
Software
that
is
contained
on
floppy disk will costfrom $20
to
over $200,
de
pending
on
the
complexity of
the
program.
COMPATIBILITY
Compatibility in
the
personal
computer
world
refers
to
the
ability (or inability)
to
use
one
type
of
product
on
a
particular
computer
system.
Be
fore
purchasing
software
for
your
computer,
make
sure
that
the
software
is
compatible
with
your
system.
Software
that
is
made
by
the
computer
manu
facturer
tends
to
be
compatible
with
most,
but
not
all,
of
the
manufacturer's
computers.
In
some
cases,
your
TI-99/4A must be
equipped
with
additional
memory
or
other
options
to
use
a
par
ticular program. Many powerful businesssoft
ware
packages are available only
on
floppy disk.
