(a) Use only t he specified ny lon tubing, c oupling bodies, olives, rubber sealing rings , and
nuts i n accord anc e with these in struc tions to make compressi on fitting c onnections.
(b) In a warm water (temp eratu re of the water is not to be more than 140 degrees) and
detergent solution , c lean all tu bing a nd fittings c ompletely and then dr y t hem wit h cle an
air b efore you as semble t he lines.
(c) Use only the spec ified clenching tool s in ac c ordance with t hes e instructions to make
compres sion fitting c onnections.
(d) When you assemble t he line, put t he correctly si z ed nut on the tu bing in the correct
position. (Refer to the Model 208 Maintenance M anual, Chapter 30, TKS Anti-Ice Fluid
Distribution System - M aintenance Pract ices , Figure 204.)
(e) Put the olive on the tubing wi th the bev el end of the olive toward t he end of t he tubing.
(Refer to the Model 208 Mainte nanc e Manual, Chapter 30, TKS A nti -Ice Fluid Distribution
System - Maintenanc e Practices, Figure 204.)
CAUTION: Do not us e the coupling nut t o clench the olive t o the fluid tubing. Use
only spec ified clenching too ls to do the clenching operation. Also, do
not torque t he couplings t oo muc h during the rep air or replacement
procedure. If t he couplings leak, in stall new seals as neces sa ry.
CAUTION: Clench the olive to the tubing without a s ealin g ring in position. If yo u
clench t he olive w ith a sealing ring in position, you will prevent a
correct clench and the sealing ring will be uns erv iceable.
(f) Put the end of t he nylon t ubing into th e correc t ly-s ized clenching tool as far as it will go.
(g) Make s ure that t he outer end of t he olive is in the correc t pos ition in the bore of the nut.

Maintenance P rac tices.
1
Make sure that the nylon tubing stays bottomed out in the clenching tool until the
clenching operation is com plet ed.
2
Make sure tha t the m andrel is fully engaged in the tool.
NOTE: Clenching tools for 3/16-inch and 5/16-inch outside diameter t ubing have
mandrels to hold the inside of the tubing.
3
The tubin g, olive, and m andrel c an turn during the c lenching operation, and that
is permitted.
(i) Unscrew the nut and remove the olive and the tubing from t he clenchi ng tool.
NOTE: It may be necessary to remove the mandrel from the clenching tool to remove
the tubing.
(j) Do an inspection of the installed olive to see that it is correctly s w aged.
CAUTION: Do not use the seals again af ter y ou loosen or disconnect a t ube
coupling. Replace the 3/ 16-inch and 5/16-inch sealing ring an d/or
1/2-inch O-ring, as applicable, when you assemble a tube coupling .
Examine the seal f or dam age and m ak e sure that it is in t he correct
position. This wi ll help to prevent flu id leakage fr om the c oupling.
(k) Put a s ealing ring of the corre ct dimension over the end of t he tubing.
