ENGINE REASSEMBLY
INSTALLING CRANK DRIVE
1. Clean the sealing surfaces

and
4
on the
crankcase.
2. When replacing the crankcase, check the main
bearing play according to the specification
Main bearing play. (See section D Test
procedures and adjustments.)
3. When replacing the crankshaft, check the
main bearing play and con rod bearing play
according to the specifications Main bearing
play and Con rod bearing play. (See
section D Test procedures and adjustments.)
4. Coat eight main bearing shells
2
lightly with
engine oil and insert in the crankcase.
When replacing the balance shaft, replace the
balance shaft bearing shells.
5. Coat eight balance shaft bearing shells

lightly with engine oil and insert in the
crankcase.
1. Apply the silicone liquid seal according to
the specification Liquid sealing contour
thermostat housing. (See section D Liquid
sealing contours.)
2. Hold the thermostat housing

in position.

5 mm: Install ten bolts
2
according to the
specification Other bolts M6 Standard. (See
section D Tightening torques und assembly
instructions.)
INSTALLING THERMOSTAT HOUSING
1. Turn the upper case 180°.
2. Insert the chain guide

5 mm: Install two bolts
1
according to the
specification Other bolts M6 Standard. (See
section D Tightening torques und assembly
instructions.)
4. Turn the upper case 180°.
