UNPACKING INSTRUCTIONS
The simplest way
to unpack
the speaker is
to turn it upside
down.
remove
the
packing
materjal
from
the bottom of
the carton
and then
carefully
stand the
speaker in the carton right
side
up. You can
then
lift
the carton olf
the speaker. 1f
there is any shipping
damage,
conlact
either
your
dealer
or the factory for
instructions.
POSITIONING
TH E SPEAKERS
The 03's
are
relatively
non.critical
to room
placement
and
will
provide good
results
almost
anywhere. However,
we recommend
they be
placed
at
least
one toot from
a wall
and at least
three
feet
from a corner.
They
perform
best when
positioned
well
away from
all walls,
as this minimizes
eady reflections
and room resoriances
and so
provides
the
most
open,
uncolored reproduction
as well as
the most accurale
bass response.
LISTENER
POSITION
The 03's
provide
broad dispersion
of
energy at all frequencies
and
are designed
to
provide good
results
throughout a large listening
area.
Of course, the best imaging
is
provided
for a listener
centeied
in front
of the speakers.
Also, optimum
phase
and
time alignment is
provided
only for a sealed listener
who
is eight or more
feet away
from
the speakers.
CON NECTING
THE SPEAKERS
It is essential
for
proper performance
that both speakerc
in a stereo
system
be wired in
the same
polarity.
The input
terminals are color
coded
to
facjlitate
this. For
example,
the
wire
connected
to the red
input
terminal of
each speaker should
connect
to the
respective
positive
output terminals
of the amplifier.
(The polarity
can be
reversed,
but BOTH
speakers must
be
reversed.)
The
speakers
should be connected
to the amptif
ier with heavy
gauge
wire
to
insure minimal loss
of
power
and
proper
control
by the amplifier.
The
minimum
size
recommended
for relatively
short runs is 18
gauge.
Larger
sizes
(18
or 14
gauge)
are
preferred,
especialty for
long
runs. The
speaker terminals
will accept
sizes up to
j2
gauge.
CONN ECTING
THE EQUALIZER
The most
common method
of connecting
the equalizer
is through
the lape monitor
facilities
of the amplif ier
or
receiver.
To implement
this:
.
connect
the equalizer input
cable
pair
from
jacks
on the amplifie.
labeled
'tape
out',
'tape
record'
or similar.
.
connect the
equalizer output
cable
pair
to
jacks
on the amplilier
labeled
'tape
in',
'tape
play,'
'monitor'or
similar.
.
tuln the tape monitor
switch
to
'on'or'tape'.
The
power
cord can
be
plugged
into
an outlet on the
amplifier or
into
a wall outlet. The
unit may be left
on continuously
since it
requires
an insignificant
amount
of
power.
