Howtoremovetheharddiskpassword
Attention:IfUseronlymodeisselectedandtheuserharddiskpasswordhasbeenforgottenandcannot
bemadeavailabletotheservicetechnician,neitherLenovonorLenovoauthorizedservicetechnicians
provideanyservicestoresettheuserharddiskpasswordsortorecoverdatafromtheharddiskdrive.The
harddiskdrivecanbereplacedforascheduledfee.
Toremoveauserharddiskpasswordthathasbeenforgotten,whenthesupervisorpasswordandthemaster
harddiskpasswordareknown,dothefollowing:
1.Turnonthecomputer.
2.WhentheThinkPadlogocomesup,immediatelypressF1toenterThinkPadSetup.Whenpower-on
passwordiconisappearingonthescreen,enterthepower-onpassword.
3.SelectSecurity,usingthecursordirectionalkeystomovethemenu.
4.SelectPassword.
5.SelectHard-diskxpassword,wherexistheletteroftheharddiskdrive.Apop-upwindowopens.
6.SelectMasterharddiskpassword.
7.TypethecurrentmasterharddiskpasswordintheEnterCurrentPasswordfield.thenleavetheEnter
NewPasswordfieldblank,andpressEntertwice.
8.PressF10.
9.SelectYesintheSetupConfigurationwindow.Bothuserharddiskpasswordandmasterharddisk
passwordwillhavebeenremoved.
