Control Panel and Cycles:

The dishwasher features a front control panel with various wash cycle selections and options. Selections are activated only when the door is firmly closed. The dishwasher is programmed to remember the last cycle used, allowing for quick restarts by simply pressing the Start/Cancel pad.

Wash Cycle Selections:

  • Pots & PANS: For heavily soiled dishes, pots, and pans.
  • Normal wash: For regularly soiled dinner dishes or silverware.
  • China crystal: For lightly soiled china and crystal.
  • Quick wash: For lightly soiled and pre-rinsed dishes and silverware.
  • Rinse only: For pre-rinsing dishes or glasses to prevent food from drying and reduce odor buildup. No detergent is used in this cycle.
  • ENERGY SAVER: For light soiled or pre-rinsed dishes and silverware.

Functions/Options:

  • Air exchange: Exchanges air every 6 hours to keep the dishwasher interior fresh.
  • Steam wash: Adds 30 minutes to the cycle time for heavily soiled items. Available with "POTS & PANS" and "Normal wash" cycles.
  • Child lock: Locks all controls to prevent accidental changes or starts. Activated by simultaneously pressing "Steam wash" and "Vortex wash."
  • Vortex wash: Ideal for washing durable, very dirty, hard-to-clean items like pots, pans, and serving bowls. Dishes should be placed face down in the lower rack directly above the vortex wash arm.
  • Heated Dry: Activates the heater during the drying process.
  • Sanitize: Maintains water temperature at 70°C (158°F) max to sanitize dishes and glassware. Note: This temperature may not be reached if incoming hot water is not at the suggested temperature.
  • Hi Temp Wash: Maintains water temperature at 60°C (140°F) max for heavier soil loads.

Operating Features:

  • Delay Start: Allows delaying the start of a selected cycle from 1 to 24 hours.
  • Display Window: Shows remaining hours and minutes of the running cycle, delay hours, and error codes.
  • Rinse Aid Indicator Light: Turns on when rinse aid needs to be added.
  • Sanitized Indicator Light: Turns on after a cycle with the sanitize function is finished (turns off after 30 seconds if the door is opened).
  • Clean Indicator Light: Turns on after a cycle is finished (turns off after 30 seconds if the door is opened).
  • Cycle Progress Indicator: Lights on the right side of the front panel indicate the current stage: Wash, Dry, and Clean.

Loading Features:

  • Adjustable Upper Rack: Can be raised or lowered to accommodate taller dishes (8" to 10" clearance for Upper Rack, 11" to 13" for Bottom Rack).
  • Bottom Rack: Designed for plates, soup bowls, saucers, and cookware. Features fold-down tines for flexible loading of large or hard-to-fit items. Large items should be placed along the edge to avoid interfering with spray arm rotation and detergent dispenser.
  • Silverware Basket: Divided into three modules, usable in both upper and lower racks. Items should not extend through the bottom to block the lower spray arm.

Dish Preparation:

Scrape away large food pieces. Loosen burned-on foods. Empty liquids from glasses. Rinse off acidic food soils (mustard, mayonnaise, vinegar, lemon juice, tomato-based products) if the dishwasher is not run immediately to prevent discoloration. Ensure the food disposer is empty if the dishwasher drains into it.

Detergent and Rinse Aid Dispensing:

  • Detergent Dispenser: Has a main wash compartment. The amount of detergent needed varies based on water hardness and soil level (refer to the provided table for guidance).
  • Rinse Aid Dispenser: Improves drying and reduces water spots. The amount dispensed can be adjusted by rotating a dial under the cap. Keep it full but do not overfill.

Maintenance Features:

Cleaning:

  • Exterior Door and Panel: Clean stainless steel with a soft cloth; avoid appliance wax, polish, bleach, or chlorine-containing products. Clean the control panel with a lightly dampened cloth.
  • Stainless Steel Inner Door and Tub: Clean spots with a damp nonabrasive cloth.
  • Cylinder Filter: Designed to collect large items like broken glass, bones, and pits. Remove the bottom rack, rotate, lift out, empty, and clean under running water.
  • Fine Filter: Remove the Cylinder Filter and then the bottom spray arm to access and remove the Fine Filter. Flush under running water.
  • Door Gasket: Clean regularly with a damp cloth to remove food particles.
  • Air Gap (if installed): Ensure it is clean for proper drainage. Turn off the dishwasher, lift the cover, remove the plastic cap, and clean with a toothpick.
  • Interior: Self-cleaning with normal use. If needed, clean the tub gasket with a damp cloth and a brush.

Protecting Against Freezing:

If the dishwasher is left in an unheated place, it must be protected from freezing. This involves:

  1. Turning off electrical power.
  2. Turning off the water supply.
  3. Disconnecting the water line from the inlet valve and draining water into a pan.
  4. Disconnecting the drain line from the pump and draining water into a pan. To restore service, reconnect all lines, turn on power and water, fill detergent cups, and run a Heated-Wash cycle, then check for leaks.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues like the dishwasher not starting, beeping at the end of a cycle, rinse aid light on, operating too long, dishes not clean/dry enough, spots/filming, etching, and detergent left in the cup. It lists possible causes and solutions.

Error Codes:

The dishwasher displays error codes (E1, E4, E8, E9) to warn of malfunctions, such as longer inlet time, overflow, distributary valve failure, or button issues. A warning is included regarding overflow: turn off the main water supply and remove any accumulated water before restarting.
