These instructions will aid you in repairing or replacing the cylinder(s) on a Tommy Gate V2 series liftgate and are used for multiple
kits. Locate your kit below and verify its contents.

Summary

Removing the Cylinder

Remove Pins and Bolts

Extract Cylinder

Remove the cylinder from the liftgate assembly.

Rebuilding the Cylinder

Prepare Cylinder Shaft

Assemble Piston and Nut

Install guide bushing, piston, and nut onto the cylinder shaft.

Torque Cylinder Nut

Tighten the nut to 80 ft-lbs while holding the ram adjuster.

Installing the Cylinder Shaft Assembly

Prepare Cylinder Tube for Shaft

Install and check hole plug tool in vent plug hole to protect seal.

Lubricate and Install Shaft Components

Finalize Shaft Assembly

Installing the Cylinder

Mount Cylinder

Secure Cylinder to Frame

System Check and Operation

Run liftgate cycles to remove air and check for leaks.

Finishing the Repair

Refill Hydraulic Reservoir

Add hydraulic oil to fill reservoir 3/4 full.

Complete Reassembly
