Thereelengageswitchisanormallyopenproximityswitch.Thisswitchis1of
theseveralinputsfortheTEC.Theswitchisattachedtothehandleassembly
switchmountbracket(Figure104).
Whenthecuttingunitisnotengaged,thetabonthecuttingunitengagement
leverispositionedawayfromthetargetendofthereelengageswitchsothatthe
switchremainsopen.Thetabonthereelleverismovednexttotheswitchwhen
thecuttingunitisengagedcausingtheswitchtoclose.
CheckingtheOperationofReelEngageSwitch
ChecktheoperationofreelengageswitchwiththeInfoCenterontheconsole.
WiththekeyswitchintheRUNpositionandtheInfoCenterinthediagnostics
menu,choosetheReelEnableandensurethattheswitchstatechangesas
thecuttingunitisengagedandreleased.Furtherreelengageswitchtestingis
necessaryonlyiftheswitchstatedoesnotchangewhenusingtheInfoCenter.
TestingtheReelEngageSwitch
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfaceandplacethetractionleverinthe
NEUTRALposition.TurnthekeyswitchtotheOFFpositionandremovethe
keyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Disconnectthebatterypack;refertoConnectingtheLithiumBatteryPack
(page5–7).
3.Removetheconsolecoverfromthehandletogetaccesstothereelengage
switch(Figure104).
4.Disconnectthereelengageswitchconnectorfromthemachinewireharness.
5.Connectamultimeter(ohmssetting)acrosstheswitchconnectorterminals
tocheckthecontinuityofthereelengageswitch.
6.Withthecuttingunitdrivenotengaged,thereshouldnotbecontinuity(innite
ohms)acrosstheswitchterminals.
7.Checkthattheswitchcloses(zeroohms)asthecuttingunitdriveisengaged.
8.Replacetheswitchifnecessary.
RemovingandInstallingtheReelEngageSwitch
1.Disconnectthereelengageswitchfromthemachinewireharness.
2.Removethe2washer-headscrewsand2locknutsthatmounttheswitchto
theswitchmountbracketonthehandle(Figure104),andremovetheswitch
fromthemachine.
Note:Forproperoperationofreelengageswitch,thescrewsandlocknuts
usedtosecurethereelengageswitcharestainlesssteel.Ifthesefasteners
arereplaced,ensuretousecorrectfasteners.
3.Positiontheswitchtotheswitchpanelandsecurewiththe2washer-head
screwsand2locknuts(Figure104).
4.Connecttheswitchtothemachinewireharness.Securetheconsolecover
tothehandle.
5.Connectthebatterypack;refertoConnectingtheLithiumBatteryPack
(page5–7).
