IMPORTANT
Donotopenthelithiumbatterypack.Withtheexceptionofthe
batterypackfuse,fusecover,andlabels,therearenoconsumer
serviceablepartsonorinthebatterypack.Ifyouopenthebattery
pack,youwillvoidthewarranty.Thebatterypackisprotectedby
tamper-alertingdevices.
LithiumBatteryPackCare
Whenmowing,usetheInfoCenteronyoureFlextomonitorthestateofcharge
ofthelithiumbatterypack.Consistentlyoperatingthemachinewithaverylow
stateofchargewilladverselyaffectthelifeofthebatterypack.
Ifproblemswiththebatterypackexist,anadvisoryorfaultmaybeidentied
ontheInfoCenterdisplay.RefertotheInfoCenterDisplay(page5–19)for
informationonadvisoriesandfaults.
Whennishedwithmachineusefortheday,parkyoureFlexinacleananddry
garageorstorageareathatisawayfromdirectsunlightandotherheatsources.
Donotstorethemachineinalocationwherethebatterypacktemperature
couldriseabove45°C(113°F).Ifthebatteryissubjectedregularlytoexcessive
temperatures,thelifeofthebatterypackwillbereduced.
Chargethebatterypackwhenyouarenishedmowingforthedaytoensure
thatthebatteryisfullychargedforthenextmowing.Lithiumionbatteriesdonot
haveachargememoryissueanddonotneedtobefullydischargedbefore
chargingthem.EnsurethatthebatterypackischargedwiththeT orolithium
batterypackchargerthatisspecicallydesignedfortheeFlexbatterypack.
Forbestbatterylife,connectthebatterypacktothebatterychargerwhenthe
machineisnotinuse.
Keepthebatterypackcoverclean.Adirtycoverwillincreasetheheatinthe
batterypackandwillreducetheenergycapacityandlifeofthebatterypack.
TheeFlexlithiumbatterypackincludesafuseforbatterycircuitprotection.For
informationonservicingthebatterypackfuse,refertoLithiumBatteryPackFuse
(ForModels04042,04043,and04046)(page5–43).
Ifthelithiumbatterypackserviceisnecessary,contactyourT oroDistributor
forassistance.
LithiumBatteryPackStorage
Ifthemowerwillbestoredformorethan10days,ensurethatthebattery
isconnectedtothelithiumbatterypackcharger.Ifthebatterypackisnot
connectedtothechargerduringstorage,thebatterypacklifewillbereduced.
Donotstorethemachineinalocationwherethetemperaturewilldropbelow
-25°C(-13°F)orriseabove45°C(113°F).Becausestoragetemperaturewill
affectthelifeofthebatterypack,avoidstoringyoureFlexintemperaturesoutside
ofthisrange.Storageforlongperiodsoftimeathightemperatureswillreduce
thelifeofthebatterypack,especiallyifthepackisstoredwithahighcharge.
Wherepossible,storethemachineinacool(notbelowfreezing)location.
After10days,thechargerwillenterastoragemaintenancemode,adjustingthe
batterytoachargeof40%ofmaximum.Thischargelevelduringlongterm
storagewillensurethefulllifeofthebattery.Ifyoudonotkeepthebatterypack
connectedtothechargerduringstorage,thehighstateofchargeinthebattery
packwillshortenthelifeofthebattery,especiallyifstoredinwarmconditions.
