Anti-seizelubricant
Usedtopreventcorrosion,galling,andseizurebetweenmetalparts.Mostoftenappliedtoshaftsand
boresduringassembly.Unlessotherwisespecied,highviscosityregulargradelithium-graphitebased
anti-seizelubricantshouldbeused.
Grease
Canbeusedtopre-ll(pack)bearings,boots,andsealsbeforeassembly,easeinstallationof
componentsduringassembly,orllcavitiesbetweenmovingpartsthroughgreasettingsafterassembly.
Unlessotherwisenoted,refertothemachineOperator’sManualorInstallationInstructionsforgrease
specications.
Threadlockingcompound(Threadlocker)
Usedtolockthreadedfastenersinposition.Availableinlow,medium,andhighstrengthforvarioussize
fastenersandapplications.Mostthreadlockingcompoundsareappliedimmediatelybeforefastener
installation.Somethreadlockingcompoundsuseawickingfeature,andcanbeappliedafterfastener
installation.Mostthreadlockingcompoundsallowthefastenertoberemovedwithstandardtools
oncecured.Highstrengththreadlockingcompoundsmayrequireapplyingheattothefastenerand
thesurroundingareatoallowfastenerremoval.
Note:Somefastenershaveadrythreadlockingcompoundpre-applied(patch-loc)sonoadditional
threadlockingcompoundisnecessarywheninstallinganewfastener.Thesefastenersaredesignedto
beremovedandre-installedonlyoncebeforeapplyingadditionalthreadlockingcompoundisnecessary.
Retainingcompound(bearingsandsleeves)
Anadhesiveusedtosecurebearings,bushings,andcylindricalpartsintohousingsorontoshafts.When
cured,bearingandsleeveretainingcompoundllsthegapbetweenmatingpartswithahardresinthat
increasesloaddistributionandprotectsagainstcorrosion.
Adhesive
Usedtosecureavarietyofcomponentsimmediatelypriortoassembly.Mayberecommendedfor
installingnewcomponentsorwhenreusingacomponentthathadapre-appliedadhesivesuchas
hoodseals,mouldings,andweather-stripping.

Threadsealant
Usedtosealthreadedttingsandsensorsfromair,fuel,andoilpressureleaksandpreventgallingand
seizurebetweenthreadedparts.Athreadsealantinpastermispreferredoversealanttape.The
sealantshouldremainsemi-pliabletoallowforcomponentremovalwithstandardtools.Somethread
sealantsmayrequiretheuseofacleanerorprimerbeforeuse.
Gasketcompound
Usedtocreateasealbetweenmatingparts.Gasketcompoundsmaybeusedwithorwithoutthe
presenceofapre-formedgasket.Gasketcompoundsmaybesolventorsiliconebased,andcurewhen
exposedtoairordesignedtocureinanair-lessenvironment(anaerobic).Mostgasketcompoundsare
designedtobeappliedtocleansurfacesfreeofoil,chemicalresidueandpreviouslyusedgaskets
orgasketcompounds.
Siliconesealant
Designedforabroadvarietyofsealingandbondingrequirements,siliconesealantsareusuallyroom
temperaturevulcanizing(RTV)whichformaexiblesiliconerubberthatbondstoawidevarietyof
smoothorporousmaterialswhencured.Standardsiliconesealantsaredesignedtoperformin
temperaturesfrom-51°Fto232°C(-60°Fto400°F),whilehightemperaturevariantscanpreform
intemperaturesupto343°C(650°F).
