10.Ifnecessary,removetheballbearingsandspacerfromthepulley.Discard
thebearingsthatwereremoved.
AssemblingtheReelClutchShaft
1.Iftheballbearingswereremovedfromthereelclutchpulley,pressnewinner
bearingfullytothebottomoftheboreinthepulley.Installaspacerinto
thepulleyandthenpressnewouterbearingintothepulleyuntilitcontacts
thespacer.
2.Ifthebearingwasremovedfromthebearingcollar,pressthenewbearing
fullyontothecollar.
3.Slidethereelclutchpulleyassemblyandreeldrivehubontotheclutchshaft.
4.Useamodiedsocket(refertoSpecialTools(page4–7))toinstallthe
bearingcollarassemblyontotheclutchshaft(Figure50).
IMPORTANT
Topreventdamage,avoidusingexcessiveclampingpressureon
thereelclutchshaftassembly.
A.Usetheatsonthereeldrivehubtocarefullysecurethereelclutchshaft
assemblyinavise.Useavisewithsoftjawstopreventdamagetothe
clutchshaftassemblycomponents.
B.Useamodiedsocket,5/32inchpinandsocketwrenchtoinstallthe
bearingcollarassemblytotheclutchshaft.Torquethebearingcollar
to32to36N∙m(23to27ft-lb).
5.Installtheockedbearingshield(item14inFigure48)(ockedside
orientatedtowardbearinglocation),wavespring,atwasher,andretaining
ringontothebearingcollar.
6.Ifthereelclutchfork(item3inFigure48)wasseparatedfromthereelclutch
hub,theclutchpivotpinsmustbereplaced(newpinshavepatchlockon
threads)orhaveLoctite#242(orequivalent)appliedtothethreadsbefore
installation.Securetheforktotheclutchhubwiththe2pivotpins.
7.Slidethereelclutchhubandreelclutchforkassemblyontothereeldrivehub
(item19inFigure48).Ensurethattheindicatormarkontheforkistoward
therearofthetransmission.
8.Installthereelbrakedisc(item22inFigure48)ontothereeldrivehub.The
frictionmaterialsideofthediscneedstobepositionedtowardthereelbrake
ringwhichispressedintothetransmissionhousing.
9.Carefullysecurethereelbrakedisctothereeldrivehubwitharetaining
ring(item23inFigure48).
Note:Donotdamagethebrakediscfrictionmaterialwheninstallingthe
retainingring.
10.Pressanewballbearing(item24inFigure48)fullytotheshoulderofthe
reelclutchshaft.
