Note:Foraccurateclutchresistancemeasuring,theclutchshouldbeat
approximately21°C(70°F).
Note:Beforetakingsmallresistancereadingswithadigitalmultimeter,short
themultimetertestleadstogether.Themeterdisplaysasmallresistance
value(usually0.5ohmsorless).Thisresistanceisbecauseoftheinternal
resistanceofthemultimeterandtestleads.Subtractthisvaluefromthe
measuredvalueofthecomponentthatyouaretesting.
4.Useamultimeter(ohmssetting),checktheclutchcoilresistancebetween
the2terminalsoftheclutchelectricalconnector.Thecoilresistanceshould
beapproximately3.0ohms.Additionally,checkthatthereisnocontinuity
betweeneitheroftheclutchwireconnectorterminalsandtheclutchframe.
5.Usingtheaccessslotsintheclutchcover,measurethegapbetweenthe
clutchrotorandthearmature(Figure132).Thegapshouldbe0.4to0.6mm
(0.016to0.024in)atallthe3accessslots.Ifgapisincorrect,loosenor
tightenthe3locknutsevenlytoachievecorrectuniformgap.
6.Asanadditionaltest,apply12voltstotheterminalsofthePTOelectric
clutch.Theclutchshouldengage.Iftheclutchdoesnotengagewhen
voltageisapplied,replacethePTOelectricclutch.
7.Iftheclutchremovalisnecessary;refertoElectricClutch(page8–15).
8.AfteryoucompletethePTOelectricclutchtesting,connecttheclutch
electricalconnectortothemachinewireharness.
