RemovingtheGearPump
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,engageparkingbrake,lowercutting
unitsandstopengine.Removekeyfromtheignitionswitch.
2.ReadandadheretotheinformationprovidedinGeneralPrecautionsfor
RemovingandInstallingtheHydraulicSystemComponents(page4–71).
3.Pinchthepumpinlethoseclosedwithaclamptopreventdrainingthe
hydraulictankprematurely.
4.Removetheinlethosefromthegearpumpanddrainthehydraulictankinto
asuitablecontainer.
5.Disconnectthehydraulichosesfromthegearpump.Allowhosestodraininto
asuitablecontainer.Plughosesandcapttingstopreventcontamination.
IMPORTANT
Followalllocalcodesandregulationswhenrecyclingordisposing
thehydraulicuidandlters.
6.Supportthegearpumptopreventitfromfallingandremovebothsockethead
screwsandatwashers.Separatethegearpumpfromthepistonpump.
7.RemoveanddiscardtheO-ringfrombetweenthegearpumpandpiston
pump.
8.Ifnecessary,markthehydraulicttinglocationandorientationtoallowfor
correctassemblyandremovethehydraulicttingsfromthegearpump.
RemoveanddiscardallO-ringsfromthehydraulicttings.
InstallingtheGearPump
Note:Inspectthreadsandsealingsurfacesofhydraulicttingsandhydraulic
hoseortubeconnectorspriortoinstallation.Replaceanydamagedorworn
ttings,hosesortubes.
1.LubricateandtnewO-ringsontogearpumphydraulicttings.Installttings
intopumpopeningsmakingsurethatttinglocationandorientationisas
notedduringremoval.Tightenttingsasspecied;refertoInstallingthe
HydraulicFittings(SAEStraightThreadO-RingFittings)(page4–10).
2.MakesuretractionpumpandgearpumpmountingandO-ringsealing
surfacesareclean.
3.LubricateandplacenewO-ringonthegearpump(item2inFigure52).
4.Positiongearpumpwithinletfromhydraulictankupward,securewithtwo(2)
socketheadscrewsandatwashers.
5.Removetheplugsandthecapsfromhydraulichosesandttingsandusing
labelsplacedduringgearpumpremoval,connectthehydraulichosesto
thegearpumpttings.Tightenconnectionsasspecied;refertoInstalling
HydraulicHosesandTubes(O-RingFaceSeal)(page4–8).
6.Installpumpinlethosetothegearpumpandsecurewithhoseclamp.
7.Primethegearpumpandchargethehydraulicsystem;refertoPrimingthe
HydraulicPumps(page4–78)
