1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface.Lowerthecuttingunits,stoptheengine,
engagetheparkingbrakeandremovethekeyfromtheignitionswitch.
2.ReadandadheretotheinformationprovidedinGeneralPrecautionsfor
RemovingandInstallingtheHydraulicSystemComponents(page4–71).
3.Ensurethatthemowermanifoldiscleanbeforeyouremovethecartridge
valvefromthemanifold.
4.Removethecartridgevalve:
A.Forsolenoidstylevalves,removethenutthatsecuresthesolenoidcoilto
thecartridgevalve.Carefullyslidethecoiloffthevalve.
IMPORTANT
Carefullyhandlethecartridgevalve.Slightbendingordistortion
ofthestemtubecancausebindingandmalfunction.When
removingthecartridgevalvefromthemanifold,ensurethatthe
deepwellsocketfullyengagesthevalvebase.
B.Useadeepsocketwrenchtoremovethecartridgevalvefromthe
manifold.
5.RecordthecorrectlocationoftheO-rings,thesealingrings,andtheback-up
rings.Removeanddiscardthesealkitfromthecartridgevalve.
6.Visuallyinspectthemanifoldportandthecartridgevalve:
A.Checkfordamagedthreadsonthecartridgevalveandinthemanifold
block.
B.Ifvalvesealingsurfacesappearpittedordamaged,thehydraulicsystem
maybeoverheatingortheremaybewaterinthesystem.
C.Contaminationmaycausevalvestostickorhangup.Contamination
canbecomelodgedinsmallvalveoricesorsealareascausingvalve
malfunction.
CAUTION
Useeyeprotectionsuchasgoggleswhenusingcompressedair.
Note:Particlesasneastalcumpowdercanaffecttheoperationofhigh
pressurehydraulicvalves.
7.Cleanthecartridgevalve.
A.Fornon-solenoidoperatedvalves:Submergethevalveincleanmineral
spiritstoushoutcontamination.Ifthevalvedesignallows,usea
non–metallicprobetopushtheinternalspoolinandout20to30times
toushoutcontamination.Cleananddrythecartridgevalvewith
compressedair.
B.Forsolenoidoperatedvalves:Temporarilyinstallthesolenoidonthe
cartridgevalveandconnecta12voltpowersourcetothesolenoid.
Whileenergized,ushoutanycontaminationwithanonammable
aerosolbrakecleaner.De-energizethesolenoid.Repeattheush
whileenergizedprocedure5or6times.Removethesolenoidfromthe
cartridge.
