DisassemblingtheSteeringCylinder
1.Removeanyuidfromthecylinderbyslowlypumpingthecylinderrodwhile
holdingthecylinderoveradrainpan.
2.Plugbothcylinderportsandcleantheoutsideofthecylinder.
IMPORTANT
Donotclampvisejawsagainstthecenterofthecylinderbarrel.
ClamponthecapendofthebarrelONLY.
3.Mountthecylindersecurelyinavisebyclampingonthecapendofthe
barrel.Usingavisewithsoftjawsisrecommended.
Note:Ahighstrengththreadlockerwasusedontheexternalcollarduring
cylinderassembly.Slowlyheatingtheexternalcollarwilleasecollarremoval.
4.Useapipewrenchtorotatetheexternalcollarcounterclockwiseuntilitisfree
ofthecylinderbarrel.
5.Removetheplugsfromtheports.Extracttherod,theheadandthepiston
assemblyfromthebarrelbycarefullytwistingandpullingontherod.
IMPORTANT
Donotclampvisejawsagainstthecylinderrodsurface.Usethe
wrenchatsprovidedonthecylinderrodONLY .
6.Slidethepistonofftherod.
7.Removethewearring,theseals,theback−upringandtheO−ringsfromthe
pistonandthehead.
AssemblingtheSteeringCylinder
1.Makesureallthecylindercomponentsarecleanbeforeassembly.
2.Coatthenewwearrings,theO−rings,thesealsandtheback−upringwith
cleanhydraulicuid.
A.Installthewearringsandthesealtotheoutsideofthepiston.
B.InstalltheO−ringtotheinnerboreofthepiston.
C.InstalltheO−ring,theback−upringandtherodsealstothecylinderhead.
3.Coattherodwithalightlayerofcleanhydraulicuidandcarefullyslidethe
pistonassemblyontotherod.
IMPORTANT
Donotclampvisejawsagainstthecylinderrodsurface.Usethe
wrenchatsprovidedonthecylinderrodONLY .
4.Installthelocknutonthecylinderrod.Holdthecylinderrodsecurelyand
tightenthelocknutto102N−m(75ft−lb).
5.Coattherodwithalightlayerofcleanhydraulicuidandcarefullyslidethe
headassemblyontotherod.
6.Coatalltheinternalpartswithalightlayerofcleanhydraulicuid.Slidethe
rodassemblyintothebarrelbeingcarefultonotdamagetheseals.
