Theseatswitchisanormallyopenswitchthatcloseswhentheoperatorisonthe
seat.IfthefunctioncontrolleverismovedoutofNEUTRAL(theneutralswitch
opens)whentheoperatorraisesoutoftheseat,theenginemagnetowilldivert
theignitioncircuittogroundandtheenginewillstop.Theseatswitchismounted
totheseatpandirectlyundertheseat.
TestingtheSeatSwitch
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfaceandlowerthecuttingunits.Makesure
theengineisoffandthekeyswitchisintheOFFposition.
2.Raisetheseatanddisconnectthewireharnessconnectorfromtheseat
switch;refertoFigure87.
3.Checkthecontinuityoftheswitchbyconnectingamultimeter(ohmssetting)
acrosstheswitchterminals.
A.Withnooperatorintheseat,thereshouldbenocontinuitybetweenthe
terminals.
B.Pressdirectlyontotheseatswitchthroughtheseatcushion.Thereshould
becontinuityastheseatcushionapproachesthebottomofitstravel.
4.Replacetheswitchifnecessary.
5.Iftheseatswitchtestscorrectlyandacircuitproblemstillexists,checkthe
wireharnesses;refertoAppendixA(pageA–1).
6.Connectthewireharnesstotheswitchbeforereturningthemachineto
service.
