Theswitchislocateddirectlyundertheoperatorfootpanel.Theparkingbrake
switchisusedtodeterminewhentheparkingbrakeisengagedordisengaged.
Theswitchisanormallyclosedproximityswitchthatopenswhentheoperator
setstheparkingbrake(theparkingbrakelatchcomesincloseproximitytothe
switch).IfthefunctioncontrolleverismovedoutofNEUTRAL(theneutralswitch
opens)whentheparkingbrakeisengaged,theenginemagnetowilldivertthe
ignitioncircuittogroundandtheenginewillstop.Theparkingbrakeswitch
shouldnotrequireadjustment.
TestingtheParkingBrakeSwitch
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfaceandlowerthecuttingunits.Makesure
theengineisoffandthekeyswitchisintheOFFposition.
2.Disconnectthewireharnessfromtheparkingbrakeswitch.
3.Checkthecontinuityoftheswitchbyconnectingamultimeter(ohmssetting)
acrosstheswitchterminals.
A.Withtheparkingbrakedisengaged,thereshouldbecontinuity(switch
contactsclosed)acrosstheswitchterminals.
B.Engagetheparkingbrake.Thereshouldbenocontinuity(switchcontacts
open)acrosstheswitchterminals.
4.Replacetheswitchifnecessary.
5.Iftheswitchtestscorrectlyandacircuitproblemstillexists,checkthewire
harnesses;refertoAppendixA(pageA–1).
6.Connectthewireharnesstotheswitchbeforereturningthemachineto
service.
